In 2019's Avengers: Endgame, after the team's utter defeat at the hands of Josh Brolin's Thanos and the resulting eradication of half of all the universe's life, things looked a little bleak. The remaining heroes were somewhat scattered and some of them chose... interesting ways of dealing with their grief (Looking at you, Clint Barton.)
In the case of Chris Hemsworth's Thor, the once fearless, mighty thunder god set himself up in Norway to wallow in his own self-pity. However, when the Avengers needed him (and after a bit of coaxing from his mother) Thor realized that he was still worthy and willing to fight the good fight.
Once again donning his Asgardian battle armor and wielding both his famed hammer Mjolnir and his new axe, called Stormbreaker, Thor leaped into battle alongside the other heroes to give Thanos a run for his money.
LET'S PRE-ORDER THOR PROPERLY THIS TIME
Hasbro, as part of their Fan Fest, showed off a brand-new Thor figure based on his appearance in Avengers: Endgame. This six-inch scale Marvel Legends figure features both Stormbreaker and Mjolnir as well as a lightning effect piece. It's priced at $24.99 and is available for pre-order here!
The figure's packaging features an especially sleek-looking Infinity Saga logo.
Mjolnir and Stormbreaker are cast in translucent blue plastic to simulate the weapons' immense power.
Thor is super-articulated and can hit just about any pose a collector would want.
Taika Waititi confirmed that 'Thor: Love and Thunder' only has "four weeks" left of filming while also praising the MCU movie as something that “might be the best Marvel film ever.”
Russell Crowe confirmed that he will play Zeus in 'Thor: Love and Thunder.'
Christian Bale was confirmed to be sport a bald look for 'Thor: Love and Thunder,' seemingly indicating that the actor might actually be in makeup as Gorr the God Butcher instead of CGI.
AN ELECTRIFYING ADDITION TO THE MARVEL COLLECTION
This version of Chris Hemsworth's Thor is a long-held want among many collectors, so they'll definitely be excited to add him to their displays and collections. Hasbro has been very slowly filling in the gaps in their representation of Endgame's final battle, but they're still missing a decent amount (Carol Danvers and Rocket remain glaring omissions.)
Still, Thor isn't close to the only MCU figure that Hasbro is making for this new "Infinity Saga" sub-line for Marvel Legends. Expect to see quite a few more releases revealed soon enough! And that's not to mention new figures planned for Legends for all of Marvel Studios' new 2021 projects, like Spider-Man: No Way Home, Black Widow and Ms. Marvel, to name a few.
As for Chris Hemsworth and his God of Thunder, they'll likely next be seen in 2022's Thor: Love and Thunder. Although perhaps one shouldn't rule out a surprise appearance for the character in Loki, which premieres on Disney+ on June 11...
