The Mandalorian Season 2: Timothy Olyphant Could Wear Boba Fett Armor as Star Wars Novel Character

Timmy Olyphant The Mandalorian Season 2

In recent weeks, there has been no shortage of news about the upcoming second season of The Mandalorian. Set to premiere this October in Disney+, the planet-hopping adventures of Din Djarin and The Child are set to continue. A bunch of pre-existing Star Wars characters have been either rumored or confirmed to join them which include the likes of Ahsoka Tano, Sabine Wren, Bo-Katan, and the fan-favorite bounty hunter from the original trilogy, Boba Fett

Moreover, another veteran actor in the form of Timothy Olyphant has also been reported to join the stacked cast of the upcoming season, but the details of his role are still being kept under wraps. However, a new report may have shed some light on Olyphant's role, and it appears that it has something to do with a pre-existing Star Wars character.

REPORT

Slash Film has learned from their sources that Timothy Olyphant has filmed scenes wearing Boba Fett's armor for The Mandalorian Season 2. To address the confusion, since an earlier report already stated that Temeura Morrison will play Boba Fett in the Disney+ series, the outlet speculated that Olyphant will play Cobb Vanth, who debuted in Chuck Wendig's Aftermath novel. Vanth is "the self-appointed sheriff of the Tatooine-based settlement Freetown" who wears a mysterious set of Mandalorian armor.

WHAT THIS MEANS

As fans would recall, there was a mysterious figure seen at the end of the fifth episode of The Mandalorian Season 1Not much is known about the character, but it could have been Olyphant's Cobb Vanth all along who is trying to either save or dispose of the seemingly lifeless body of Fenecc Shand (Ming-Na Wen). Previous rumors have revealed that Fenecc Shand will return in The Mandalorian Season 2 which appears to confirm that the character is alive.

Moreover, Boba Fett's whereabouts in Tatooine are unknown after his presumed death in Return of the Jedi. However, given that he is confirmed to return in the upcoming season and beyond, the bounty hunter likely will not be pleased to learn that another character is wearing his iconic armor. The character could make his triumphant return by taking back what is rightfully his.

While Boba Fett is a skilled bounty hunter, his resources could have been depleted. This is where Mando and the Child could come in since it has been previously rumored that both characters will return to Tatooine. An alliance between the two bounty hunters presumably against Shand and Vanth to take back Boba Fett's armor could be in the works. Seeing Din and Boba Fett work together against a common threat would be a sight to see.
