The Star Wars universe has gained an absolutely monumental boost thanks to season 1 of The Mandalorian on Disney+. Not only did it bring incredible action and the most popular new character in Baby Yoda/The Child, it also took the galaxy far, far away to a whole new level of production quality and incredible storytelling that led to a whopping 7 Emmy award wins and 15 nominations overall.
As is the case in most Star Wars productions, this series boasts one of the most star studded casts in all of Hollywood, including actors like Pedro Pascal, Werner Herzog, Giancarlo Esposito, and more. Season 2 of the show is set to bring that same energy when it premieres later this month, including the arrival of two new stars who have been reported for months now...
Thanks to a new Instagram story from Disney+'s Germany (Deutschland) official account, season 2 of The Mandalorian has officially added Timothy Olyphant and Rosario Dawson to the cast. Olyphant’s role is still undisclosed, although his appearance in the show has been rumored to involve Boba Fett, while Dawson will be playing Ahsoka Tano. The casting announcment can be watched below:
WHAT THIS MEANS
Both Olyphant and Dawson have been involved in major rumors and reports that point to their appearance in The Mandalorian, and this confirmation is yet another exciting bit of news on top of everything that has already come concerning the hit show’s second season. As the first brand new Star Wars project to arrive on Disney+ last year, it has already boasted its fair share of Hollywood’s best and brightest stars even before tonight’s announcement.
Olyphant’s inclusion in the show has been discussed for a while now, already with reports that he will be suiting up in Boba Fett’s armor even though Temura Morrison will be returning to that role. This is also taking into account that Fett is presumed to be dead after Return of the Jedi, so his comeback will be something to closely keep an eye on.
Dawson’s casting has been something Star Wars fans have wanted for years, and it should bring plenty of joy to the fan base to know she’s been officially cast. Ahsoka was one of the highlights of the animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and it seems like Dawson will have a unique opportunity to bring her to life as an older, more mature live-action version of the character.
