Amid the pandemic, The Mandalorian has been making rounds on social media. Disney CEO Bob Chapek recently confirmed that the release of The Mandalorian Season 2 will not be delayed, exciting fans everywhere. More so, a slew of legendary Star Wars characters such as Ashoka Tano, Sabine Wren, Captain Rex, and Boba Fett have either been rumored or confirmed to join Din Djarin and The Child in their next adventure. And now, another character from the animated series of the franchise may have joined the upcoming season of the popular Disney+ series.
In a new report from Slash Film, insider Peter Sciretta revealed that Katee Sackhoff will be playing a live-action version of Mandalorian Warrior Bo-Katan in The Mandalorian Season 2. Previously, Sackhoff voiced the character in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels. Slash Film notes that Sackhoff shot her scenes for The Mandalorian Season 2 in February, prior to the COVID-19 caused shutdowns of big-budget productions across the world.
WHAT THIS MEANS
With Bo-Katan being a fan-favorite character from the Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels, this news is a welcome sight for hardcore fans of the franchise. Sackhoff has already teased her potential return to the Star Wars universe, with her saying that "it does make sense" for Bo-Katan to appear in the well-renowned Disney+ series. And now, the eventual arrival of Sackhoff in the live-action side of the franchise has been set in stone. Not much is known about the role of Bo-Katan in the series but it would potentially revolve around the Darksaber, a weapon last seen held by Moff Gideon in the season one finale of the Disney+ series.
In the eyes of fans, the second season of The Mandalorian is slowly becoming to be the launchpad of future stories in the Star Wars franchise. Previously, Kessel Run Transmissions reported that the rumored appearances of both Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren will be limited in a single episode to "set up the Rebels sequel series." If this proves to be true, this route could be the same as Bo-Katan's appearance in the Disney+ series.
