With the bombshell news that Jamie Foxx will not only be joining the third Marvel Studios Spider-Man film , but reprising his role as Electro from non-MCU The Amazing Spider-Man 2 , the internet lit up with speculation. Is he playing the exact same version of Electro? Is this some sort of Multiverse situation where the character is crossing dimensions to enter the MCU?

Whatever the case may be, fans are definitely excited about this highly intriguing new development.

Marvel Studios president, Kevin Feige himself, has previously commended Foxx and his take on the character , but he's not the only one singing Foxx's praises.

Jacob Batalon, the MCU's very own Ned Leeds, expressed to his excitement in Jamie Foxx boarding the next Spider-Man film:

"I'm a huge fan of Jamie Foxx. Like, literally, I grew up watching his things so being able to work with all these influential people in these movies has been like a godsend. I truly can't believe ... it's really because of Spider-Man that I get to meet all my heroes. Just having Jamie Foxx, he's so prolific, he's this very diverse ... he can just do everything. It's so awesome to really just know that he's in our project. That's so awesome."

Certainly an actor of Jamie Foxx's caliber is bound to elicit a strong amount of laudation from his co-stars. And while we don't know the true, precise nature of his role in the film, it's quite intriguing to speculate.

Moreover, will Ned have any scenes with Electro? Devoted fans might recall that Ned was instrumental in helping Peter take down Adrien Toomes and his underlings in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Will Pete's self-appointed "guy in the chair" give him an assist in his takedown of Electro?

Well, just comparing their abilities and power levels, Electro is ten times the threat Toomes ever was. His powers more than make him a dangerous force to be reckoned with. Ned and Peter will have their hands full if they want to stop him.

Barring any further delays of the Marvel Studios slate, the still-untitled third MCU Spider-Man film will hit theaters on December 17, 2021.
