The Arrowverse is currently in the age of transition after last year's massive crossover event, Crisis on Infinite Earths. Stephen Amell's Arrow already ended after eight seasons, while the upcoming season of Melissa Benoist's Supergirl has been confirmed to be the final one.
Despite that, the remaining shows in the Arrowverse slate are still poised to make some noise next year, with Javicia Leslie taking over the Batwoman role from Ruby Rose and Grant Gustin's The Flash potentially spearheading more multiverse shenanigans. Meanwhile, a new series in the form of Superman & Lois will make its debut on the CW network next year.
Superman & Lois is expected to give the Man of Steel an entirely new costume, and fans are already waiting for the eventual reveal. Given that production for the CW show is currently underway, a new set photo may offer clues on what the new costume will look like.
CanadaGraphs shared the first look at Tyler Hoechlin's Superman suit from the set of CW's Superman & Lois.
At first glance, the biggest takeaway from this reveal is the much darker color palette of the original suit that was featured in Supergirl. Moreover, it appears that the suit is paying homage to the Superman suit of the DC Animated Film Universe, which houses animation projects such as Justice League: War and Justice League: Apokolips War.
The reason behind Clark's new suit is still unclear, but it's possible that other characters from Supergirl, such as Brainiac-5 or even Lena Luthor, could potentially give him this upgrade. Not only that, but it's also likely that this suit is currently being kept from the Fortress of Solitude, and Clark opts to retrieve it due to an imminent threat. Whatever the case, providing a new suit for Superman bodes well for the CW series, because it perfectly encapsulates a brand new start for the character.
Not much is known about the plot of Superman & Lois, but it was already confirmed that the main focus of the series will be the couple's life of raising teenage boys. This is an intriguing narrative since this hasn't been explored much in a live-action setting, and it will be interesting to see how the story will progress.
Barring any delays, Superman & Lois is officially set for a late February 2021 release date, and there's a strong chance that this new costume will be revealed before then.
