Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Receives Promising Update Amid Marvel Release Disruption

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 Delay
By Klein Felt

A bomb has been dropped on the MCU world, and fans are still recovering. After Disney announced the shuffling of release dates for six of its upcoming projects, the Marvel faithful don't know when they will be seeing their favorite heroes next.

As a part of this push, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, The Marvels, and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania all received new release dates. Also, the outright canceling of two untitled Marvel projects was announced along with the set of delays.

Viewing audiences are now checking stock on every forthcoming MCU film to make sure that there have been no further release date shenanigans.

One such project is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3and people are looking for answers pertaining to whether these recent delays would affect the upcoming threequel.

Guardians 3 is Okay According to James Gunn

According to a tweet from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 director James Gunn, the forthcoming intergalactic adventure has not been pulled or delayed as of now.

The filmmaker responded to a concerned fan who was inquiring about a possible delay, saying "#GotGVol3 is neither pulled nor delayed, still scheduled for May 5, 2023." Gunn mentioned that the film is "scripted & storyboarded, crewed & casted, & READY TO GO" for production.

Gunn Quelling Concerns

In a world full of Hollywood secrecy, it is nice to have someone as forthcoming as James Gunn. The director has garnered quite a reputation for interacting with fans online and answering any questions that may arise (no matter how snarky they may be).

Hearing that there are no plans for a delay or cancellation of Vol. 3 is a splendid sight after the torrent of news MCU fans have gone through recently. One thing to note though is just because Gunn is saying a delay is not happening now does not mean it will not happen at all.

Movie-making is a gargantuan effort on a good day and, as the world has learned in the last year and a half, doing it during a global pandemic is a whole other beast. One can be sure that the Guardians director is going to do everything in his power to hit that release date, but there are too many variables at play to count out the idea of a push entirely.

For now, though, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to debut on May 5, 2023.
