The first episode in The Mandalorian Season 2 has already broken viewership records for a streaming show. Not only did the debut of the second season introduce Timothy Olyphant's Cobb Vanth , but also Temuera Morrison as Boba Fett in the final moments of "Chapter 9: The Marshal". Ever since Morrison was reported by The Hollywood Reporter to be cast as Boba Fett with a minor role in The Mandalorian Season 2, rumors have surfaced about a series or movie in development about the famed bounty hunter .
In a new report about the production of The Mandalorian Season 3, Nellie Andreeva of Deadline mentions a rumor she heard about the possibility of a Boba Fett miniseries in development and planned to begin production next week.
"One explanation could be rumors that another Mandalorian -related project, I hear possibly a Boba Fett miniseries, would film first, starting next week, with The Mandalorian Season 3 following after a monthlong break."
WHAT THIS MEANS
At the end of October, it was discovered that the trademark for "Boba Fett" was renewed by Lucasfilm , indicating that they were going to go all-in on merchandise for the character. This is despite Fett's role in this season of The Mandalorian having been reported as fairly limited, so the bounty hunter getting his own mini-series could be another explanation for this new push, especially since this new mini-series will apparently begin production not even a week from now before the next season of The Mandalorian .
For the first time in years, Boba Fett has returned to live-action, and he isn't in the best of shape. Missing his iconic armor, now in the hands of Din Djarin, there's a question of what this mini-series will even be about. It would be odd for it to be a prequel, explaining how he survives the Sarlacc pit if he's missing his beloved armor, and there's no telling when and how Boba will get his armor back from the Mando this season.
There is a strong possibility that fans could see Fett get his armor back in this season of The Mandalorian , leading into his own mini-series.
