It was in the closing moments of Marvel Studios' Hawkeye, Episode Five that much was revealed. As it turns out, Eleanor Bishop, Kate's mom, was the one who hired Black Widow, Yelena Belova to kill Clint. Additionally, Yelena informed Kate and Clint that Eleanor is working with none other than the Kingpin himself: Wilson Fisk.

All of this serves as an exciting setup for the finale episode, which drops on Wednesday, December 22, 2021.

Of course, fans are chomping at the bit to witness Wilson Fisk's introduction. Especially because actor Vincent D'Onofrio is confirmed to be reprising the character, a role he originated in the Marvel/Netflix series, Daredevil.

Speaking to TVLine, Hailee Steinfeld, who plays Kate Bishop in the Hawkeye series, spoke on the upcoming series (season?) finale.

Making note of the many unresolved plot threads heading into the episode, Steinfeld admitted that "There's a lot of loose ends to tie up, there's a lot more things yet to be revealed. The stakes couldn't be higher."

Steinfeld also realizes that her character is lucky to have an Avenger watching over her:

“She has this realization. She’s just completely broken and confused and absolutely lost. She doesn’t know who to trust or who to look to. Thank God because if it weren’t for [Clint], she would probably have a much harder time getting back up on her feet after this one.”

She also discusses the call to action that is now in front of Kate:

"She has no choice now but to really go to work. The stakes are higher than ever, and the one person that she’s been tirelessly trying to protect is now someone that she might need to be protected against. She comes to her senses as quickly as she possibly can after learning this information and puts her head down and does what she has to do."

Will the Hawkeye Finale Hit the Bullseye?

There are a lot of pieces on the board going into Hawkeye's finale. Clint and Kate, Fisk and Eleanor, Yelena, Maya Lopez, and the Tracksuit Mafia all seem to have their own goals here.

A large-scale battle, featuring arrows flying to and fro, will likely ensue. As for the part D'Onofrio's Fisk will play and the size thereof- it's still difficult to say, given Marvel Studios' tendency to keep things close to the vest.

In a perfect world, Kate and Yelena's budding friendship will be explored a bit more and Clint will finally get to retire (for the fourth time) and pass the mantle of Hawkeye onto Kate.

Hopefully, the finale will live up to fan expectations and deliver a satisfying resolution to all the major arcs.

As mentioned above, the finale of Marvel Studios' Hawkeye lands exclusively on Disney+ on Wednesday, December 22, 2021.
