The Suicide Squad Characters Return In Hilarious Clip from HBO Max's Peacemaker

Peacemaker HBO Max Cast
By Sam Hargrave

Having recently made his DC debut with The Suicide Squad, James Gunn is preparing to debut his John Cena-led spin-off series Peacemaker on HBO Max in January 2022.

After recovering from injuries sustained in the destruction of Jotunheim, the patriotic marksman is back for another world-saving adventure which will also delve into his origins.

Returning from The Suicide Squad, Steve Agee's John Economos and Jennifer Holland's Emilia Harcourt are back under assignment from Amanda Waller to run Peacemaker's latest mission. Meanwhile, James Gunn is set to introduce a host of new characters including Freddie Stroma's Vigilante and Nhut Le's Judomaster.

Despite the series premiere only being a few months away, HBO Max has yet to reveal much footage from the spin-off.

As the wait for a full trailer continues, a hilarious new clip from Peacemaker has finally been released.

HBO Max Debuts First Peacemaker Clip

Following the announcement of HBO Max's upcoming expansion into a limited number of European countries, the popular streaming service revealed an exclusive clip from James Gunn and John Cena's Peacemaker series.

The comedic diner scene includes appearances from The Suicide Squad characters John Economos and Emilia Harcourt along with Peacemaker in full uniform. Additionally, fans get their first peek at two of the series' new characters: Danielle Brooks' Leota Adebayo and Chukwudi Iwuji's Clemson Murn.

The full clip can be seen below:

HBO Max Goes Global

The hilarious tone of this diner scene certainly feels consistent with The Suicide Squad and James Gunn's past work. As this scene appears to be the first meeting between Peacemaker and the rest of the cast, this clip likely comes from early in the series premiere, before the mission itself is introduced.

While the post-credits scene of The Suicide Squad revealed Peacemaker will see John Cena's anti-hero left to save the world once again, it offered little indication of what he may be up against. With the premiere only a few months away, perhaps the series' first full trailer, whenever it releases, will offer more clues.

DC FanDome takes place on October 16, 2021, with reveals expected for all corners of the comic book world. Fans should expect a better look at the Peacemaker HBO Max series during the event as James Gunn and the cast will all be in attendance for the big day.

Warner Bros. released this clip during an event for the upcoming launch of HBO Max in a limited number of European territories. The expansion marks a significant step forward for the streaming service as it finally debuts outside North America and begins to expand into the rest of the world.

For now, HBO Max is planned to launch in six European countries in October with plenty more set to receive the service throughout next year. However, with the global rollout expected to be a somewhat slow process, international audiences should expect Peacemaker to initially stream on other services through licensing deals.

Peacemaker will premiere on HBO Max in January 2022.
