Marvel Studios' run of projects coming in 2023 is set to start with Nia DaCosta's The Marvels, which will be one of the most star-studded sequels adding to the MCU story in Phase 4. Coming as the third starring role for Brie Larson, who most recently made a cameo in the Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings mid-credits scene, her Carol Danvers will make a thrilling return as one of the most powerful Avengers currently running.
The biggest additions to this story will be Iman Vellani's Kamala Khan and Teyonah Parris' Monica Rambeau, who will both bring a powerful new dynamic after their appearances in Ms. Marvel and WandaVision. How their stories will come into play alongside Larson's Captain Marvel is still a mystery, although Kamala's superfan status and Monica's somewhat hostile feelings toward Carol will both play a key role in the plot.
Following the recent schedule delay for many of Phase 4's movies, The Marvels won't make its way into the MCU's story until early 2023 following Ms. Marvel's anticipated Summer 2022 debut on Disney+. Thankfully, Marvel Studios will have plenty of time to make sure everything needed for this movie is complete thanks to the latest production update.
The Marvels Has Finished Shooting
Instagram user @katewakefieldsfx shared an image of official gear given to the production crew of The Marvels while indicating the movie had wrapped shooting. This includes a hoodie and a beanie that both have the movie's title card on the front, with the hoodie also boasting the logos for Captain Marvel, Monica Rambeau, and Kamala Khan's heroes.
The batch also includes a pin that pays tribute to all three heroes' logos along with an animated image of the trio. Each hero has their own hoodie on with their superhero logo as Carol points to the camera and Kamala gives a wave.
Wakefield included the following caption with the post:
"Well this is bloody cool! Been a big dream of mine to work on a Marvel film and under the incredible David White no less! Thanks for having me on board"

Post-Production Time for The Marvels
Marvel Studios is moving ahead quickly with completing filming for its projects, with The Marvels completing its work shortly after its 2023 companion Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania hit that same milestone. This also makes for an impressive timeline as the sequel only got its cameras rolling less than four months ago, although there is still plenty of work that needs to be done.
The Marvels isn't due to release for just under 15 months, which is good news for a movie that will need plenty of time in post-production for the visual effects needed in the story. With Kamala Khan's newfound powers and Monica Rambeau's evolution into the powerful Spectrum making two-thirds of an epic heroine trio, Marvel will want to be sure that everything looks as top-notch as it needs to.
Fans will also be paying close attention to story details regarding The Marvels, which are currently being kept under wraps while other big-name projects take the spotlight over the coming months. Once 2023 moves closer, those details should become more readily available as Kamala, Monica, and Carol get ready for their debut as a trio.
The Marvels has completed filming and will debut in theaters on February 17, 2023.
