While Marvel fans have two more Moon Knight episodes and Doctor Strange 2 coming soon, July’s Thor: Love and Thunder has taken the spotlight with less than three months until its debut. On April 18, the shortest promotional tour in MCU history officially began as fans finally got to see the first look at Chris Hemsworth’s Thor for the first time since Avengers: Endgame.
Even with just under 90 seconds of footage, the first look at Thor: Love and Thunder brought plenty of exciting teases for what the fan-favorite God of Thunder will face in his new adventure. From his continuing travels with the Guardians of the Galaxy to his realization that Jane Foster becomes the Mighty Thor, this new sequel doesn't lack thrilling action and story beats.
Marvel fans responded in a big way to this first trailer, helping it become one of the top 10 most-viewed trailers ever in its first 24 hours online. Now, while the latest news surrounding the film doesn't add to that impressive number, fans now have the opportunity to get a better look at that footage in IMAX form.
Thor 4 Gets IMAX Trailer
IMAX released an expanded aspect ratio version of the first official trailer for Marvel Studios' Thor: Love and Thunder.
This trailer provides more footage from all angles, including a better look at the planet where Thor reveals his new Ravager look. There is a better view of the rock formation behind Chris Pratt's Star-Lord as he rolls his eyes in front of the blue-skinned natives.
Fans also get a wider shot of Falligar the Behemoth, the fallen patron god of the Galactic Frontier, as the monster's full body comes into the frame. The giant carcass looks identical to the iconic shot from Jason Aaron's "God of Thunder #3", which was the debut issue for Gorr the God Butcher.
More of Thor's new costume is shown as he high-fives Taika Waititi's Korg in front of a lush background. The new blues and golds are accentuated in his outfit as the second level of circles on the front of the costume come into the shot.

Expanded Look at Thor 4 Footage
This new look at Thor: Love and Thunder doesn't offer any new footage, just as the recent look at Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in IMAX form remained the same as it did on TV. Even so, watching the new Thor scenery with the expanded aspect ratio gives a sense of just how grand and massive this movie's scale will be.
Even just the shot of Falligar the Behemoth shows just how incredible this movie will look formatted for IMAX screens, showing off Thor's new intergalactic travels as expansively as possible. It doesn't appear that any new Easter eggs or plot information comes through with the expanded footage, but it should help to fully engulf fans in the Earthly and cosmic storylines that Thor 4 will deliver.
Now, the wait begins for more new material to debut online, including the eventual first look at Gorr the God Butcher and the returns for other characters like Jaimie Alexander's Lady Sif. Following Doctor Strange 2's arrival in a couple of weeks, Thor 4 will have its own time in the spotlight as Marvel Studios returns to New Asgard.
Thor: Love and Thunder will premiere in theaters on July 8.
