Black Adam will not only introduce a new DCEU anti-hero in the form of Dwayne Johnson's Teth-Adam, but it will also showcase the debut of the Justice Society of America. The upcoming movie is expected to explore the origin story of the titular anti-hero while also dealing with his adventures with the aforementioned super-team. The exact plot details are still being kept under wraps, but marketing for the movie appears to hint that the JSA will play a significant role.

One of the confirmed members of the JSA is Cyclone a.k.a. Maxine Hunkel, the granddaughter of the original Red Tornado. Cyclone's powers include wind manipulation, giving her the powers to fly and project powerful bursts of air. In Black Adam, the character is portrayed by Quintessa Swindell, an actor best known for their roles in Trinkets and Euphoria

Now, ahead of the film's release later this year, DC has revealed a fresh look at the JSA hero.

A Fresh Look at Black Adam's Cyclone

A new prequel comic for Black Adam, via Comics Beat, was officially unveiled, focusing on Quintessa Swindell's Cyclone.

The comic cover features the best look yet at the Justice Society of America member, showcasing the character's live-action costume in animated form:

Back in February, DC's trailer for its 2022 slate unveiled the first look at Cyclone:

Alongside the reveal, the comic's official synopsis was also unveiled, confirming that Aldis Hodge's Hawkman will also appear in the prequel story:

"When she was young, Maxine Hunkel dreamed of flying with the Justice Society. Now she finally has the powers and the opportunity…but will she say yes? Guest-starring Hawkman on the road to Black Adam!

Plus, continuing the Teth-Adam backup story: trouble hits home for Adrianna Tomaz as Intergang mercenaries invade the hallowed halls of her university, on the hunt for the sacred totem she “liberated”—but what strange metal is the idol made from, and why does Intergang need it so badly?"

Cyclone Takes Center Stage

Cyclone's costume from the comics is more in the traditional sense, but the live-action iteration of the outfit appears to lean on the modern front. Still, the green and purple colors are still present, thus paying respect to the comic design.

The prequel comic's synopsis also appears to tease that there will be two versions of the Justice Society, with the other likely set in the past. This could hint that the Golden Age heroes of the DC team could be featured through cameos, potentially including Cyclone's grandmother Maxine Hunkel a.k.a. Red Tornado. This is also in line with another rumor that the original Atom would appear in the movie.

In the comics, Cyclone has a bubbly personality yet an intelligent demeanor. It's possible that these traits will carry over in the live-action version, meaning that Quintessa Swindell will be portraying a light-hearted character amid the thrilling tone of the movie.

Although footage of Cyclone's powers has yet to be unveiled, the JSA hero is expected to duke it out against Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam. Given that Cyclone and Black Adam can both fly, a high-stakes aerial battle could be on the cards in the movie.

Black Adam is set to premiere in theaters on October 21.
