Following the Multiversal madness coming in Doctor Strange 2, Marvel will bring back its most popular Asgardians in Thor: Love and Thunder. The otherworldly royalty will team up with Natalie Portman's Jane Foster and the Guardians of the Galaxy, all facing off against Christian Bale's Gorr the God Butcher. With the fourth Thor film now mostly complete, fans are eagerly awaiting the start of its promotional tour.

Currently, the film sits with the second-shortest time in MCU history between its first trailer and its ultimate release date, which is now just over three months away. Behind-the-scenes photos and leaked promo images have teased exciting new developments for the God of Thunder, although nothing official has come from Marvel or Disney at this time.

Plot details remain as scarce as imagery and footage from the movie, although Bale's Gorr the God Butcher is already making an impact as a potentially terrifying addition to the MCU. As it turns out, the most recent news surrounding Thor 4 is hinting that Marvel is still working to make that antagonist the best it can be, as the release date inches closer.

The Ankler's Jeff Sneider revealed that Christian Bale is currently working with Marvel Studios on reshoots for Thor: Love and Thunder.

Sneider hinted that the reason Marvel hasn't released a trailer for the movie is because of these reshoots, which were most recently taking place in Manhattan Beach, California.

New Gorr Footage for Thor 4?

The topic of Marvel reshoots has been a somewhat popular one in the MCU sphere recently, particularly with six weeks of them for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Thor: Love and Thunder has had its own round of reshoots since filming ended last year, although this is the first news about Bale's Gorr specifically. However,  reshoots are an essential part of Marvel Studios' filmmaking process to ensure the final cut tells the best story possible, "a blessing" according to Eternals director Chloé Zhao.

Earlier set photos gave fans a look at Bale in costume as the new parasitic villain, although there are no signs pointing to what exactly he'll be doing in this galactic sequel. It's possible that fans may see some of what happens in these reshoots in the upcoming first trailer, although with no confirmed plot details, trailer material is still up in the air.

As Bale brings the MCU's first Symbiote-based antagonist into the stories, anticipation is building to see just how powerful Gorr will be on his rampage throughout the galaxy. It's unlikely that fans will find out what these reshoots add to the journey until much later, but no matter what they capture on film, Marvel is still working hard to make sure the villain is a powerful part of the story.

Thor: Love and Thunder will debut in theaters on July 8, 2022.
