Although Ryan Reynolds is still some time away from making his MCU debut, Deadpool 3 is picking up steam in regards to fan anticipation ahead of its release. As only the second confirmed ex-Fox Studios property confirmed to arrive after Jon Watts' Fantastic Four, Wade Wilson's third solo movie is already one that has fans excited about what's coming.
Recently, director Shawn Levy officially signed on with Marvel Studios to direct Deadpool's MCU film, reuniting with Reynolds after their success together in 2021's Free Guy. The film still doesn't have an official release date or a timeframe for when production will happen (at least, not a public one), but fans are already picturing how the Merc with a Mouth will make his mark on the franchise.
Reynolds is currently the only cast member attached to the project, although co-stars like Morena Baccarin (Vanessa) and Zazie Beetz (Domino) have expressed their desire to return to the fold. Now, that changes thanks to Reynolds potentially announcing the first actor to officially join the cast - one which many didn't see coming, including Blind Al herself.
Deadpool 3 Gets a New Cast Member
Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds took to Twitter to hint that Leslie Uggams will supposedly reprise her role as Blind Al in Marvel Studios' Deadpool 3.
Uggams shared a Tweet praising Reynolds' most recent movie, The Adam Project, in which he teamed up with director Shawn Levy. She shared her excitement at seeing what Levy and Reynolds have planned for Deadpool 3, which Reynolds quote-tweeted with "Thank you, Leslie. See you soon" and three sword emojis.
Uggams then replied to Reynolds' message with three "eyes" emojis.
The exchange can be seen below:
Blind Al Teased for Deadpool 3 Return
While Leslie Uggams didn’t have a ton of screen time in the first two Deadpool movies, Blind Al became a hilariously memorable character in the time she did get. Serving as Wade Wilson’s roommate and a source of both emotional support and friendly ribbing, the supporting character gave the audience plenty of laughs thanks to her experiences with Ikea products and guns alike.
Although this doesn’t officially confirm Uggams as a part of the cast, it would be shocking to see her omitted from Marvel Studios’ first solo Deadpool outing. Her penchant for deadly weaponry should return in full force, and fans are already hoping to see how she gets to interact with previously established MCU characters as well.
In typical Deadpool fashion, Reynolds teasing Uggams’ return seems to fit this movie’s vibe perfectly as the two prepare for their next round of comedic antics together.
Now, the wait continues to find out when exactly Deadpool 3 will go into production and when more new cast members will join the action. It also remains to be seen if Wade Wilson appears in the MCU before his first solo movie, but with Blind Al now seemingly at his side, he’ll be ready for whatever mayhem stands in his way.
