With WandaVision having just closed its Disney+ doors and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier opening its own wide, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is gearing up for a content-filled year.

Following the end of Marvel Studios' sophomore series on Disney+, the franchise is set to hit theaters for the first time in nearly two years with Black Widow, a movie set to debut approximately one year after its initial release date.

The film will follow the seemingly on-the-run life of Natasha Romanoff, played once again by actress Scarlett Johansson, in-between her Civil War and Infinity War appearances, with trailers and interviews heavily marketing the Russian family aspect of the film. Natasha will find herself teaming up with sister figure Yelena, father figure Alexei, and mother figure Melina.

Although marketing for the film has gone stale since November, the promise of new materials has arisen for the near future.

In the meantime, a Black Widow crew member has posted a new behind-the-scenes photo of Scarlett Johansson suited up for action...

SCARLETT JOHANSSON FLAUNTS NEW SUIT AND GAUNTLETS

Black Widow makeup artist Deborah Lamia Denaver posted a new photo of Scarlet Johansson behind the scenes of the standalone film on Instagram. In it, Johansson seems to be getting touch-ups in between takes, fully decked out in the new black suit she will don.

Denaver's caption promises that Black Widow is "on its way:"

BTS of Black Widow ❤️ it’s on its way let’s all get excited can’t wait !!! We need it we want it we will love it

THE TIME FOR BLACK WIDOW IS APPROACHING...AGAIN

Although the entertainment industry still seems to be holding its breath regarding any major upcoming delays, the fact that a Black Widow crew member is constantly assuring fans that the film is on the way is a good sign. Of course, this bears no final merit on when the film will actually debut, but Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has been adamant in the fight to keep Black Widow in theaters.

And Feige's might seems justified. Black Widow is poised to take a deep dive into one of the MCU's most complicated and history-ridden characters. Much of what has been revealed about Natasha throughout the Infinity Saga has been through teases to answers that will likely be answered in her solo flick, including the basis of her relationship with fellow Avenger Clint Barton.

Moreover, Black Widow will be a sight to see on the big screen for its visuals alone. Having filmed at locations such as Norway and Budapest, the MCU's first Phase 4 film entry will feature remarkable scenery.

As for its cast, the Black Widow herself will be gearing up in at least two new suits, a black one and a white one. Natasha will also be sporting her vibrant, golden Widow's Bite, a look dating back to some of her original comic days.

Nonetheless, the future of the MCU has never been brighter following the successful run of WandaVision, and now, it's time for another female Avenger to steal the spotlight.

Black Widow will reportedly release in U.S. theaters on May 7, 2021.
