Scarlett Johansson Black Widow Movie

Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is already in full-swing, with the small-screen adventures of Wanda Maximoff and Sam Wilson being showcased in WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier respectively. While the Disney+ branch of the superhero franchise is going strong, the movie side is not far behind due to the arrival of Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow on July 9, 2021.

Black Widow is a unique entry in Phase 4 since it will serve as a prequel to Natasha Romanoff's adventures before her sacrifice during Avengers: Endgame. The film will be set in-between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, meaning that the Avenger is currently on the run due to her violation of the Sokovia Accords.

Marketing for Black Widow already confirmed that Romanoff will reunite with her original family from the Red Room which consists of Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova, David Harbour's Red Guardian, and Rachel Weisz's Melina Vostokoff. The reunion will happen due to Romanoff's longstanding mission to destroy the Red Room once and for all, but the emergence of the mysterious Taskmaster spells trouble for the team.

This means that Black Widow will be filled with thrilling and action-packed scenes, and a special look at one of them has been revealed.

AN INTENSE SEQUENCE IN BLACK WIDOW

Jay Maidment, an official stills photographer of Black Widow, shared a brand new behind-the-scenes image from the set of the upcoming MCU film.

The image highlights two assassins from the Red Room program that are seemingly pursuing Scarlett Johansson's Natasha Romanoff and Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova.

Maidment confirmed that this still is from the official movie special published by Titan, with a caption saying, "when the Widows drop in and spoil the party:"

"When the Widows drop in and spoil the party…….. taken on the set of Black Widow in cinemas and Disney+ on July 9th. This still appears in the official movie special book published by Titan."

THE ROMANOFFS VS. THE RED ROOM

Based on what's been revealed, it looks like this image was taken from an earlier moment of Black Widow. The trailers for the film already revealed that Scarlett Johansson's Marvel hero will reunite with Yelena inside her apartment, but it seems that their reunion will be cut short due to the arrival of their “sisters” from the Red Room.

The first official clip showed that Romanoff and Yelena will be chased throughout the streets by these assassins, presumably leading to an encounter with Taskmaster. The still presents an image of destruction during the aftermath of the high-stakes chase, and this could hint that the agents of the Red Room will stop at nothing until the Russian pair has been captured.

It's possible that this will be the first of many chase sequences in Black Widow, considering the current on-the-run status of the titular protagonist. From Taskmaster to the Red Room all the way to William Hurt's Thaddeus Ross, it seems that Romanoff's back is against the wall, but it's good to know that Yelena and the rest of her family will be up to the task of protecting the female Avenger from these imminent threats.

Fans can watch all these action-packed sequences when Black Widow premieres in theaters and on Disney+ Premier Access on July 9, 2021.
