Marvel's Black Widow: 6 New Posters Show Off Scarlett Johansson, David Harbour & More

Black Widow was supposed to kick off Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the ongoing pandemic derailed that plan. The film experienced multiple delays, shifting from one date to another before settling on a July 9, 2021 premiere date on Disney+ and in theaters

Directed by Cate Shortland, the MCU prequel will showcase the supposedly final run of Scarlett Johansson's Natasha Romanoff, revolving around the Avenger's troubled past in the Red Room. The film will be set in between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, exploring a time when Romanoff reunited with her Russian family.

The aforementioned family will serve as the MCU debut of several A-list stars, namely Florence Pugh, David Harbour, and Rachel Weisz. The trio will play Yelena Belova, Red Guardian, and Melina Vostokoff respectively.

Plot details are still being kept under wraps, but trailers confirmed that they will all band together to fight the threat of the dangerous Taskmaster and the full force of the Red Room.

Now, a new batch of posters has provided another stunning look at the first Phase 4 film.

A MASSIVE ENSEMBLE FOR SCARLETT JOHANSSON'S BLACK WIDOW

As July inches closer, marketing for the MCU prequel has ramped up, with Marvel Studios releasing new footage on a consistent basis. This latest batch of posters should drum up more hype for Black Widow while also giving insight into the look and design of the characters.

It's no surprise that the Russian family of Scarlett Johansson's Natasha Romanoff is once again the main focus of the film's promotional drive. This is due to the fact that the quartet will serve as the anchor of the narrative, diving deep into Romanoff's troubled past while also answering questions about the character's future such as her decision to sacrifice herself in Avengers: Endgame

The history of David Harbour's Red Guardian will also be explored in the film, especially after it was revealed that he was Russia's version of Captain America. It remains to be seen if the character received some type of Super Soldier Serum, but it's a safe bet that he was infused with something that elevated his abilities.

After serving on the sidelines for a good chunk of the first half of the film's marketing, O-T Fagbenle's Rick Mason finally takes the spotlight as well. Not much is known about Mason's role in Black Widow aside from the fact that he is a former SHIELD agent and has a romantic past with Romanoff.

Fan theories have mostly linked Fagbenle to the role of Taskmaster, but there's not enough evidence to confirm that he is indeed playing the copycat villain. Given that Fagbenle is included in the list of character posters, it seems that he will play a major role in the film, but it is unknown if he is a villain or an ally to the protagonists.

All will be revealed when Black Widow premieres on Disney+ and in theaters on July 9, 2021.
