The Batman: Part II achieved a major production milestone as director Matt Reeves unveiled the first look at the Robert Pattinson-led sequel. The highly anticipated Batman sequel is set to take center stage in 2027, and the film's pre-production has been making headlines in recent months. The first set photos from The Batman: Part II reinforced the movie's Long Halloween inspiration by confirming it will be set during Gotham City's winter. This pre-production tease built strong momentum for the sequel, alongside reports and rumors about the film's villain roster. 

The Batman: Part 2 director Matt Reeves officially revealed the first look at the DC sequel, showing a clapperboard in front of a mysterious dead body on a slab. The slate also displayed the red-and-black Batman logo, crediting Erik Messerschmidt as cinematographer. 

My Adventures with Superman Season 3's biggest villains have finally been unveiled ahead of its premiere. Two years and one DCU reboot after My Adventures with Superman Season 2, Season 3 is finally coming to Adult Swim and HBO Max in June. This season is loosely based on the Reign of the Supermen storyline, minus the key change that Jack Quaid's Superman isn't dead moving into it. While that storyline in DC Comics marked the aftermath of The Death of Superman, this season is following on from Brainiac's thwarted attack on Earth.

Adult Swim officially released the intro to My Adventures with Superman Season 3, which features a gorgeous collective shot of the 11 DC villains Superman, Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, Supergirl, and more will face in the upcoming season. The third outing begins at midnight on Saturday, June 13, on Adult Swim.

A new The Batman: Part II report finally revealed the identity of the sequel's villains, and one of them is quite unexpected. While exact plot details remain under wraps, the upcoming DC Elseworlds sequel from Matt Reeves is set to feature a unique DC villain lineup that mixes returning characters with major new additions from Gotham City, including Colin Farrell's Penguin and Scarlett Johansson's mystery DC character. Early reports claimed that Two-Face (aka Harvey Dent) will play a prominent role in The Batman Part II as a central antagonist, with MCU star Sebastian Stan cast in the role. However, a recent update emerged online that completely changed the narrative surrounding Two-Face in The Batman's sequel. 

Entertainment insider Jeff Sneider claimed in a new report that Sebastian Stan is actually playing the serial killer Victor Zsasz in The Batman: Part II, and not Harvey Dent. According to Sneider's report, Brian Tyree Henry would instead take on the role of District Attorney Harvey Dent, though the character may not undergo his full transformation into Two-Face within the film. 

This scoop reinforced a notable shift from earlier, widespread rumors and reporting that strongly linked Stan to Harvey Dent. Some fans noted that Stan's recent buzzcut actually fit Victor Zsasz's look, adding more fuel to the latest report. 

DC Studios confirmed the surprise return of Brainiac in an upcoming animated show before 2027's Man of Tomorrow. James Gunn's Superman sequel is set to introduce the big-screen version of Brainiac, portrayed by German actor Lars Eidinger, as the overarching big bad who will force David Corenswet's Superman and Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor to team up to save the world. Brainiac's DCU debut is significant because it marks the first time the classic Superman villain appears in a live-action movie. The DC supervillain has appeared extensively in animation, such as Superman: The Animated Series and other DC animated movies. 

Adult Swim and DC Studios released a new clip to promote My Adventures with Superman Season 3, confirming Brainiac's return (or at least the surviving remnants of him) in the series as he reunites with Supergirl after the events of the Season 2 finale. 

The first look at the DCU's upcoming 2026 villain was revealed, and he's a powerful cosmic antagonist who could appear again in Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters. DC Studios' small-screen universe has already introduced a mix of deep-cut and classic villains across animation and live-action, such as Ilana Rostovic in Creature Commandos and Red St. Wild, DC Studios' first-ever original character with superpowers, in Peacemaker Season 2. This roster of villains built a grounded yet expansive foundation for Gunn's DCU, but DC Studios' upcoming HBO Max release will take a massive leap by introducing one of the franchise's most iconic and philosophically rich antagonists, matching the likes of major DCU villains on the big screen like Lex Luthor and Lobo.

The official trailer for DC Studios' Lanterns, which premieres on August 16, showed the first look at Sinestro. The iconic Green Lantern villain seems to be in a confined prison setting as he gets confronted by Hal Jordan. This shot emphasizes Sinestro's fall from grace, indicating that, at this point in the story, he was evicted from the Green Lantern Corps. 

A new photo from Man of Tomorrow has surfaced, and it confirms the return of another familiar face for the Superman sequel. James Gunn's follow-up to 2025's Superman already has one of the biggest casts the DC Universe has put together, and a chunk of that ensemble plays for the wrong side. The film brings David Corenswet's Superman and Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor together against a far larger danger, which means the villain bench keeps growing.

Frank Grillo, who plays Rick Flag Sr. in the DCU, shared a photo with Superman actor Terence Rosemore that all but confirms Rosemore is back as Otis Berg for Man of Tomorrow. Grillo posted the image on his Instagram Stories with the caption "Love them," tagging the official Superman account. Otis would slot in as the seventh villain tied to the sequel, joining a roster that has been filling out for months. 

One of The Batman's key cast members will have a smaller role in the sequel. The Batman: Part II is a direct continuation of Robert Pattinson's Batman tale, with director Matt Reeves and many of the same cast on board. In the four years since The Batman was released, the universe has also expanded, providing Colin Farrell's Oz Cobb with his own series in The Penguin.

While Farrell's Penguin has become a standout in the Batman Epic Crime Saga, it appears his screen time may be reduced in The Batman: Part 2. Farrell spoke to Collider about his role in the film, revealing he had not yet traveled to London to begin filming. The Penguin star added that the film's script is "extraordinary," but that he "[hasn't] got much to do on it" this time around. As for his schedule, Farrell said he'd "be there for a few weeks," which in the scheme of things is only a small blip in The Batman 2's lengthy shooting schedule.

DC Studios will fully embrace an Arrowverse romance in 2026 that didn't live up to fan expectations when first showcased on the small screen. The Arrowverse has had its fair share of failed romances, including Kendra Saunders and Ray Palmer from DC's Legends of Tomorrow, Alex Danvers and Maggie Sawyer in Supergirl, and the brief romantic tension between Barry Allen and Felicity Smoak. These romances often suffered from the "CW soap opera" syndrome: infusing shows with love triangles for ratings, having characters change to fit plots across seasons, and having heroes' personal lives clash with superhero duties in contrived ways. 

My Adventures with Superman Season 3, a show under the DC Studios branding for the latest season, is officially doubling down on one of its most charming new dynamics first introduced in the previous season: the budding romance between Jimmy Olsen and Kara Zor-El. What started as an unlikely friendship in Season 2 will fully develop into something more in Season 3, as teased in the trailer and in press reviews. 

The days of Warner Bros.' DC Extended Universe (DCEU) are over thanks to the rebooted DCU from James Gunn and Peter Safran at DC Studios, but a new Batman project isn't hesitating to poke a bit of fun at the old days. TT Games' LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight was released on May 22, and since then, fans have been diving into the Batman homage and uncovering all of its secrets and Easter eggs. The game pays tribute to as many aspects of Batman's legacy as possible, including the character's time in the DCEU.

As is the way with LEGO games, the team at TT Games isn't afraid to have fun with the source material, often putting a fun or comedic twist on iconic moments. This remains the case in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, which features several callouts to the DCEU, often as the butt of jokes. 

In one instance, the game blends the storyline of The Dark Knight with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The scene sees Talia al Ghul and Batman interrogating the Joker in Arkham Asylum, with a close resemblance to the scene in The Dark Knight. However, throughout the interrogation, some of the moments parody those from the DCEU. 

Supergirl, which hits theaters on June 26, has a lot on its plate. Not only does it have to tell Kara Zor-El's origin story, but it also has to introduce an iconic DC villain, Lobo. Brought to life by Jason Momoa, who insisted on playing the character in James Gunn's universe despite only recently ending his run as Aquaman, the Main Man's backstory is darker than most and draws a line between him and Brainiac.

A recently released Supergirl clip confirmed that Lobo is following in his comic book counterpart's footsteps. When he enters a bar that Kara and her companion, Ruthye Marye Knoll, are visiting, the titular hero drops the bombshell that Lobo killed all of his people before turning into an interstellar bounty hunter.

In the comics, Lobo hails from the planet Czarnia, which was relatively peaceful before he came along. He spent his youth plotting to take out his fellow Czarnians and decided to create an army of scorpion-like creatures that were far more bite than bark. However, unbeknownst to Lobo, Brainiac made a deal with a Czarnian general long before he was born and captured the city of Paz.

James Gunn's DCU is about to look very different, and the change is only nine days away. The shared universe that the DC Studios co-chief has spent the past year and a half assembling now features three released projects: the animated Creature Commandos, the box office hit Superman, and Peacemaker. Each one has added a piece to a world that still feels new. The next piece is the biggest test yet of how far this world can go.

Supergirl arrives in theaters on June 26, and it pushes the DCU into territory none of those earlier projects reached. The Milly Alcock-led film takes the franchise off Earth and out into deep space, giving the universe its first true spinoff. This is the case because Supergirl appeared in Superman last year. Fans would recall Kara Zor-El's cameo at the tail end of the film, where she returned for her dog Krypto and was drunk out of her mind. 

Aaron Pierre's physical transformation took the spotlight ahead of his return to the DCU in Man of Tomorrow (Superman 2). Pierre is close to making his DC debut as John Stewart, one of the franchise's two biggest Green Lantern Corps members, in the upcoming Lanterns series on HBO Max on August 16. This series is far from his only DC credit, as he will be one of the DCU's key players moving forward.

Supergirl movie merch from DC’s online store recently caused a stir on social media when it featured an unexpected Star Wars character. The item was a metal print artwork tied to the Craig Gillespie-directed film, which hits theaters on June 26. The artwork depicts Kara Zor-El surrounded by the strange aliens she encounters on her journey across the galaxy. Fans soon noticed that one of those alien characters looked far more at home in a galaxy far, far away than anywhere in the DC Universe.

DC removed the promotional art. The product page no longer loads on the official store, and the old link returns a 404 error instead of the artwork. The removal followed days of online buzz, once fans recognized the odd alien as Lexo Sooger, a background figure cut from the 2017 Star Wars film The Last Jedi. Neither DC nor Lucasfilm explained how a Star Wars creature wandered into the marketing for one of DC’s biggest releases of the year. 

On June 26, Milly Alcock's Kara Zor-El finally arrives in the DCU with Craig Gillespie's Supergirl. Supergirl made an appearance in last year's Superman film, but now she's getting her own solo outing and taking the spotlight from her cousin. The movie is an adaptation of Tom King's Woman of Tomorrow, which follows a different Supergirl than fans might be used to. This Kara is drowning under the weight of the sorrow and emotional trauma that she's been through.

In the film, everything only gets worse for her when, on her trip around the galaxy under the weakening rays of various red suns, Krypto is shot and poisoned by Matthias Schoenaerts' Krem of the Yellow Hills. What follows is a complex emotional journey, where Kara reaches her lowest lows and highest highs, alongside new characters like Jason Momoa's Lobo and Eve Ridley's Ruthye Marye Knoll.

To celebrate Supergirl's release, Warner Bros. and DC Studios hosted an event at The Grove in Los Angeles, where fans could briefly step into Kara's world—and The Direct got the invite to check it out ourselves.

DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn directly addressed a Supergirl controversy on Threads. The DCU firmly established rules surrounding Kryptonian biology in 2025's Superman. Under a red sun, Kryptonians like Kara Zor-el (Milly Alcock) lose all their powers, becoming as vulnerable as ordinary humans. This was explicitly shown in the film's final moments, where a visibly drunk Supergirl crashed into the Fortress of Solitude after partying on a red-sun planet. 

In a post from Threads, a fan asked how Supergirl has ear piercings despite the fact that her skin is bulletproof. DC Studios boss James Gunn responded by saying that this can be explained "the same way she gets drunk," implying that she might have her ears pierced in a planet under a red sun. 

"As explained in 'Superman,' the same way she gets drunk — she goes to a planet with a red sun. Not to mention she was raised on a chunk of Krypton, so didn't even experience superpowers until her teens."

Supergirl will be flying into theaters on June 26, but fans have already seen Milly Alcock's face everywhere, as the marketing campaign for the upcoming movie has brought collaborations between DC Studios and some of the biggest companies in the world. Supergirl will be the second major theatrical release in James Gunn's new DCU, and will continue the story that 2025's Superman began. The film will star Alcock as the titular character, but will also bring back David Corenswet as the Man of Steel himself.

DC is one of the biggest names in entertainment, so the fact that there is a new interconnected on-screen universe still trying to get itself lifted off the ground, that means it is looking for some help from some of the world's most popular brands. Superman had a huge marketing campaign in 2025 prior to its release, and Supergirl is no different. The movie's $200+ million budget means that it will need to pull in a hefty amount of money at the worldwide box office, but maybe some of the collabs between DC Studios and these brands will give it a boost.

For reference, fans have seen marketing for Supergirl from over a dozen major names in nearly every industry, from makeup to fast food chains and even to dog treats. Most likely, DC Studios is looking at its box office projections for Supergirl and sees that the film needs a bit of a boost. Extra marketing is never a bad thing, because it gets more eyes on the product, but that comes with some large price tags as well. However, one thing can't be disputed, and that is the fact that DC is doing everything it can to make sure Supergirl is a success.

Set photos from Man of Tomorrow are giving fans their best look yet at Superman's upgraded costume, and the changes are subtle, but impactful. The sequel to James Gunn's 2025 Superman will see both David Corenswet's farm-raised hero and Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor with new suits, with Gunn having already officially revealed Luthor's warsuit. Now, Superman's new threads have been caught on camera too, and the differences from the original film are worth breaking down.

Man of Tomorrow has been filming at night on outdoor locations in Atlanta, Georgia, with the city doubling for (presumably) areas of Metropolis. Bystanders on the ground have been snapping photos and sharing them online, giving fans their first real glimpses of the production in action.

A recently photographed scene appeared to show Superman and Lex in the middle of a fight, which is significant. The sequel has confirmed that the two will team up to take on Brainiac, but it looks like, either before or after their truce, Lex wants to see if his new gear can make him a match for Supes.

It's shaping up to be a Supergirl summer, between the DCU's latest live-action Super-fest and a Supergirl-centric season of showrunner Jake Wyatt's My Adventures with Superman. It's a welcome element of Season 3, allowing a strong focus on Kara Zor-El's fish-out-of-water Kryptonian without losing considerable time with our titular hero, a win-win for fans of the franchise. 

DC's history of film and TV adaptations has had incredible highs (the original Superman, Tim Burton's Batman films, Man of Steel, The Batman, and the Swamp Thing series, to name a few). It also boasts surprising lows, like Catwoman and Green Lantern. Its history of animated adaptations, however, is remarkable for its decades-long, top-shelf quality. Batman: The Animated Series, The Death of Superman, Batman: Hush, and Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox were positively stellar.

My Adventures with Superman proved yet another excellent animated tour of the Superman universe, and its third season is no exception. It's an action-packed, often moving, funny meditation on relationships and what it means to be a hero that yet again gets the core of Supes right. 

Superman's next on-screen appearance won't be in Supergirl after all. James Gunn's newly established DCU kicked off theatrically with Superman in 2025, introducing Milly Alcock's Supergirl alongside David Corenswet's Clark Kent. While Supergirl is set to hit theaters on June 26 with Superman returning in a limited role alongside her ahead of 2027's Man of Tomorrow, DC fans will actually be seeing the iconic hero somewhere else first.

With My Adventures With Superman Season 3 having just received its release date, it's now clear that Superman's next on-screen appearance won't be in Supergirl after all. 

The animated series is set to premiere on Adult Swim on Saturday, June 13, at midnight ET, with a streaming release on HBO Max the following day, arriving less than two weeks before Supergirl opens in theaters on June 26. 

The Batman 2 star Robert Pattinson has some exciting ideas about how his movie could feature Robin. The sequel to Pattinson's first Batman story is finally in production, bringing director Matt Reeves' take on the Caped Crusader back to the big screen on October 1, 2027. While a live-action Robin has not appeared in this film series or any over the last few decades, the franchise's leading star seems to think he would be a good addition.

In 2022, ahead of The Batman's release in theaters, star Robert Pattinson expressed his hope to see Robin join his movies. Asked about the prospects of Robin coming into play at a panel event (covered by Collider), he made it clear that the character "has to be 13" years old. Pointing out his love of the 1988 A Death in the Family storyline, he also explained how "people are so scared of it" but that he thinks it would be "a really fun addition:"

"Yeah, but he has to be 13.  That's the only way I'll accept it. No, I love 'Death in the Family' and stuff, but I think it'd be so cool. Also people are so scared of it, but it's kind of exciting. I think it would be a really fun addition."
