Now that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is officially back in full swing, fans have an abundance of material to dissect for hours on end. Phase 4 kicked off in grand fashion with nine episodes of WandaVision . The series followed up on Wanda Maximoff's story from the Infinity Saga as she made her full evolution into the Scarlet Witch .
The MCU will continue with a much more grounded journey in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier , whose first episode will premiere on March 19. As was the case with its predecessor on Disney+, Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes' next chapter will see the return of some classic MCU supporting characters like Emily VanCamp's Sharon Carter and Don Cheadle's James Rhodes/War Machine .
Included in this bunch will be the surprise return of MMA legend Georges St -Pierre as Batroc the Leaper, who recently teased some of what to expect from fans with this second Phase 4 property.
FAN THEORIES WILL CONTINUE TO BE NUTS
In an interview with Complex , MMA fighter Georges St-Pierre teased the magnitude of fan theories that will come from Marvel Studios' The Falcon and the Winter Soldier .
The actor behind Batroc the Leaper was asked if the fan theories surrounding the Falcon and Winter Soldier will be "running crazy on social media" as they did for WandaVision, to which St-Pierre responded that they "could be even bigger:"
“It could be even bigger. It’s huge. They put so much budget into this thing it’s incredible.”
Additionally, he teased how much Marvel Studios is continuing their tradition of hiding spoilers by any means necessary. While St-Pierre did say that he "only know(s) what (he) needed to know," he wouldn't have been able to tell the whole story "even if (he) wanted to tell you stuff.":
“I only know what I needed to know. I don’t know the whole story, to tell you the truth. And even if I wanted to tell you stuff, I couldn’t. They’re very good at hiding stuff.”
WHAT COULD THESE FAN THEORIES BE?
WandaVision seemed to spark new fan theories after every episode , many centering around Mephisto, Nightmare, and even the potential arrival of Reed Richards. Hearing that The Falcon and the Winter Soldier could take this to an entirely new level should spell some exciting plot points are on the way.
While it's still unknown how extensive St-Pierre's role as Batroc will be in his second MCU appearance , this should mark the arrival of another enthralling story within the expanding narrative in Phase 4. There is very little known about specific plot details for this Disney+ series, but with Bucky and Sam leading the way, the possibilities are endless.
Batroc the Leaper should be quite the obstacle standing in the titular duo's way as they also deal with the Flag Smashers and Daniel Brühl's Helmut Zemo . As Captain America's two closest friends travel the world facing off against new threats, it seems certain that every week will bring new theories on what's coming next to the MCU series.
The pontificating all starts when The Falcon and the Winter Soldier debuts on Disney+ on March 19, 2021.
