The Marvel Cinematic Universe is officially neck-deep into its new era of storytelling on Disney+ thanks to six jam-packed episodes of WandaVision so far. This wild and wacky show is only the beginning of everything that's set to arrive in Phase 4 of the MCU — particularly with the Disney streaming service hosting nearly half of the confirmed releases within the franchise through 2023.
After WandaVision ends on March 5 (or March 12 if the reported surprise episode becomes a reality), Marvel Studios will move its focus to The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Coming as a story set much more firmly in the real world with Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes in the spotlight, this show will give MCU fans a more expansive look into a post-Avengers: Endgame universe that has fallen back into chaos.
Although Sam and Bucky's new show will undoubtedly have its differences from WandaVision, new quotes indicate that there may be some similarities as well.
EXPECT WANDAVISION-LIKE SURPRISES IN THE NEXT MCU DISNEY+ SHOW
In an exclusive interview with E! Online, MCU star Emily VanCamp teased some of what to expect in Marvel Studios' The Falcon and the Winter Soldier when it arrives next month.
VanCamp was asked if viewers can expect the same twists and turns that WandaVision has offered through its six episodes so far. VanCamp confirmed that the series adopts "elements" of the surprises which make up WandaVision's narrative while saying that it will largely incorporate the "good old-fashioned action that people love" from past MCU movies. The Sharon Carter actress also revealed that there are "multiple levels" that fans should expect to see in this new adventure that share similarities with what WandaVision is doing today.
"I think there are elements of that, but I also think that you can kind of count on just good old-fashioned action that people love from those movies. There are multiple levels to Falcon and Winter Soldier that I think people will appreciate."
WAIT, THERE'S MORE?!
WandaVision is already proving to be the craziest project the MCU has ever brought to life, giving fans new surprises at nearly every turn through its first six weeks. While The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will assuredly be much more down-to-earth, it should be just as exciting to find out what kind of surprises are in store for the new team-up show.
These surprises could come with either the show's plot or potential MCU heroes that show up along the way. The plot of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is still largely a mystery, although the Super Bowl trailer teased some entertaining tension between Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan's leading men.
The confirmed cast of this series will see the return of multiple MCU regulars alongside VanCamp, including the addition of Don Cheadle as War Machine in some capacity. After WandaVision brought Evan Peters' Quicksilver into play (and with an even bigger cameo likely on the way), expect mind-blowing MCU reveals to continue arriving long after the first season of the first Marvel Disney+ series ends.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is set to debut on Disney+ on March 19, 2021.
