As Thor: Love and Thunder marches along on its lead-up to release, fans continue to get tidbits from the Taika Waititi-directed epic. Love and Thunder is set to debut this coming summer, marking the first time an MCU hero has gotten a fourth solo movie in the franchise. Chris Hemsworth is back as the titular Asgardian and will be joined by the likes of the Guardians of the Galaxy, Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher, and Natalie Portman's Jane Foster.
It is particularly exciting for fans to see that Portman is back in the MCU, as the actress has not been a part of the franchise since Thor: The Dark World in 2013. The return of Portman's Jane Foster is a remarkably exciting one as she will take on the persona of Mighty Thor, becoming a hero herself for the first time on the big screen.
Foster will serve as a little more than a love interest for Hemsworth's hero, as this godly transformation will surely shake up their dynamic. Fans and people involved in the making of the movie have been eagerly anticipating Portman's on-screen MCU return, and none more so it seems than director Taika Waititi.
Taika Gets Some New Ink
A new photo on Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waitit's Instagram revealed the filmmaker has gotten a Jane tattoo in honor of Natalie Portman's character from the upcoming MCU film.
While this could be a tribute to any Jane, a comment interaction between the director and Chris Hemsworth's trainer Luke Zocchi does seem to indicate it is referring to Portman's Jane Foster.
Zocchi commented on the photo saying "I know this story amazing," to which Waititi replied "a chosen few know the story."

Jane Foster Seems to Have Made an Impression
While it is still unknown just what is in store for Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman in Love and Thunder. It does feel like the latter has made quite the impression on the film's director.
Whatever Jane Foster is going to go through in the upcoming film seems to have impacted Waititi, enough so that he would immortalize the character on his knuckles.
On the comic page, Jane Foster's transformation into Mighty Thor comes with a great deal of both emotional and physical pain, being the product of a cancer diagnosis. Could her arc in this film perhaps mimic that?
If so, it certainly feels like fans are in for a heavy journey with the character, something that many may not have thought possible after Portman seemingly left the MCU for good back in 2013.
Whatever happens to Foster in Thor 4 essentially connected with the project's director, and hopefully, the same is true for fans as well.
Thor: Love and Thunder hits theaters on July 8, 2022.
