Director Taika Waititi's upcoming MCU sequel, Thor: Love And Thunder, looks to have a lot on its plate. Not only is the movie set to reunite much of the cast from 2017's Thor: Ragnarok but the stage is also set for Natalie Portman's Dr. Jane Foster to make a comeback, this time as a full-fledged superhero. Indeed, Foster will suit up as Thor and wield Mjölnir in the upcoming fourth part of the Thor franchise.
It does beg the question though, if Mjölnir was destroyed by Thor's sister Hela in Ragnarok, how does Jane have it? Obviously, the answers lie within the plot of Love and Thunder, but until its release, fans are left to speculate.
However, that doesn't mean there aren't existing hints at Mjölnir's role.
Bandai Brings the Lightning
Two new Thor: Love and Thunder figures from Bandai were revealed as part of its S.H. Figurative line. These six-inch-scale action figures of Chris Hemsworth's and Natalie Portman's Thors come complete with detailed paintwork and a variety of accessories, some of which show off their thunderous abilities in action.
Both figures are in scale with one another, with Hemsworh's Thor being taller than Jane. Also, notice the cracks visible on Mjolnir, indicating it has been pieced back together:
Interestingly enough, the yellow lightning effect piece on top of Mjolnir could hint at how the weapon is reforged in the movie:
A closer look at another lightning effect piece of the figure as Jane flies into action:
The Jane figure also comes with an alternate unhelmeted head featuring a Natalie Portman likeness:
Thor comes with his immensely powerful weapon, Stormbreaker, which features attachable lightning:
Both figures have a wire running through the hem of the cape for different poses:
More Thor Merch on the Way
These two figures are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the merchandise rollout for Thor: Love and Thunder.
Expect many more items to be up for sale or pre-order in the coming months as the film's release draws closer. Hasbro is holding a live stream presentation for its upcoming Marvel figures on February 21, 2022, and there's a possibility that its Love and Thunder offerings might be revealed.
Speaking of memorabilia, fans might remember that a poster for Love and Thunder showed up at retail after mistakenly being put out on the sales floor. So, in a sense, the marketing for the film began even earlier than Marvel intended.
Marvel Studios' Thor: Love and Thunder hits theaters on July 8, 2022.
