Marvel Studios is taking a few weeks off from releasing content at the start of 2022, but the MCU is set to come back with a bang at the end of March. This will come with what is likely the first Disney+ show of the year for the franchise in Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight, which just got its first full trailer in preparation for that upcoming debut.

To put it lightly, this first trailer teased potentially the MCU’s creepiest project to date as Isaac’s Marc Spector works through his issues stemming from Dissociative Identity Disorder. Coming with the reveal of Ethan Hawke’s obscure villain Arthur Harrow and one of the coolest costume reveals yet, the MCU seems set to deliver another thrilling adventure with this brand-new hero.

With the Moon Knight character making his MCU debut in this solo series, fans will be in for some big-time lessons about the hero’s multiple personalities and the path he will have to travel as he gains his mystical powers and takes on new responsibilities. Along with the trailer giving glimpses of this action, Marvel is expanding on those ideas even further with Moon Knight’s first official synopsis.

Moon Knight's Official Synopsis Released

Marvel Studios released the official synopsis for the upcoming Disney+ series Moon Knight, which begins streaming on March 30. This came alongside the debut of the show's first full trailer.

The synopsis teases that Oscar Isaac's hero will start off in the classic Steven Grant persona shown in the comics, which is one of numerous personalities through which Isaac's Marc Spector navigates. As Steven and Marc realize that they exist within the same man, the complicated MCU newcomer will also have to face "a deadly mystery" involving ancient Egyptian gods:

"The series follows Steven Grant, a mild-mannered gift-shop employee, who becomes plagued with blackouts and memories of another life. Steven discovers he has dissociative identity disorder and shares a body with mercenary Marc Spector. As Steven/Marc's enemies converge upon them, they must navigate their complex identities while thrust into a deadly mystery among the powerful gods of Egypt."

The synopsis also confirms the casting of May Calamawy alongside Isaac and Ethan Hawke, while listing Mohamed Diab, Justin Benson, and Aaron Moorhead as the directors:

"Moon Knight stars Oscar Isaac, Ethan Hawke and May Calamawy. Mohamed Diab and the team of Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead directed the episodes. Jeremy Slater is the head writer, and Kevin Feige, Louis D'Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, Mohamed Diab, Jeremy Slater and Oscar Isaac are the executive producers. Grant Curtis, Trevor Waterson and Rebecca Kirsch serve as co-executive producers."

Steven Grant Finds Marc Spector & Moon Knight

Outside of being a mythical superhero, one of Marc Spector's defining traits throughout his comic runs is his constant struggle with Dissociative Identity Disorder. As was seen in the first trailer and detailed in the official synopsis for Moon Knight, that struggle will come fully to life in the hero's first-ever live-action project on Disney+ with the reveal that he starts off as Steven Grant.

In the comics, the Steven Grant personality is that of a billionaire businessman that manifested in Marc's mind as a young child, and it's sometimes connected to his evolution into a superhero as well. In the trailer, he's shown as something of a normal guy working at a gift shop as he deals with "blackouts" and has his mind flooded with memories from other lives, which could be as Marc Spector or one of his other classic personalities.

While the series is almost certainly going to show Marc's superhero origin story, fans will be eagerly waiting for the moment when he returns to his true original personality, which could be the big reveal at the end of Episode 1 or 2. Whenever that plot point comes, it should set Isaac's mysterious hero on the wild journey ahead as he deals with Egyptian gods and other supernatural forces at hand.

The synopsis seemingly only sets up the earliest stages of Moon Knight's story, which should have plenty of twists and turns throughout its six episodes as Marc and Steven work with and against each other. There's also the potential for Marc's other personalities, like cab driver Jake Lockley, to come into play, with new layers of intrigue and mystery likely coming in every episode.

No matter what the specific details turn out to be, fans are in for one of the MCU's deepest and most terrifying projects to date centered around this new powerful player.

Moon Knight will debut on Disney+ on March 30.
