Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is all the rage at the moment as it is only two months away from its theatrical debut. Merch and new trailers are teasing just how wild this new story will be as the Marvel Cinematic Universe fully dives into the Multiverse even more so than it did in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch, Wong, and more will head these efforts in an adventure that remains utterly unpredictable.
The core focus of this magical sequel will be on Doctor Strange and Wanda Maximoff, who were recently said to be the two most powerful characters in the entire MCU. However, that won't take away from the thrilling stories that are coming for newcomers like America Chavez, Multiversal visitors like Professor X, and key returning players like Wong.
Benedict Wong's MCU regular was confirmed to be the universe's Sorcerer Supreme in Spider-Man: No Way Home due to Strange being Blipped out of existence for five years. Now, thanks to some new images teasing merch for Doctor Strange 2, it appears that Wong will have even more new responsibilities.
Doctor Strange 2 Teases Girlfriend for Wong
The Mighty Hobby released listings for new Funko Pops! centered on Marvel Studios' Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Included in the group was an African-American woman named Sara dressed in sorcerer's robes, likely from Kamar-Taj.
While the character has no other descriptions in her Funko, she may be a version of Sara Wolfe from Marvel Comics. That Sara was Wong's girlfriend, which Marvel may adapt for the Doctor Strange sequel.
This Sara may also be Sara Krowler, a powerful magician in Marvel Comics. Of note is that one of her aliases is Baroness Mordo, as she's depicted as Baron Mordo's mother in various issues of the comics.
Wong & Sara Together Through Multiversal Madness?
While there won't be much room for solidified relationships in Doctor Strange 2, love will be a persistent theme throughout the plot. Doctor Strange's ties with Christine Palmer will be explored, as will the iconic love story for Scarlet Witch and Vision that lingers on after WandaVision.
Now, it appears that Wong is getting in on the mix with a love interest of his own.
In Marvel Comics, Sara Wolfe's great-grandfather was a Cheyenne shaman. Sara found herself working as Strange's secretary before showing interest in Wong for a relationship.
While she's typically depicted as an everyday person with no powers on the page, the MCU may put her down a sorcerer's path given the robes she's wearing in her figurine. It's also unclear whether Doctor Strange 2 would change her Native American heritage or not.
As for Sara Krowler, bringing in Baron Mordo's mother would add yet another exciting dynamic for Chiwetel Ejiofor's returning character. Whether she's a Variant herself or the mother of either version of the MCU's Mordo, she would likely pose a powerful threat against Doctor Strange, which would only add to his growing list of adversaries in the plot.
There are currently no reports or rumors pointing to who will play this role in the movie, whichever Sara it ends up being. Regardless of those details, it appears that this sequel will expand on Wong's individual journey by letting him take a chance at love, even while taking on expanded responsibilities at Kamar-Taj.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will debut in theaters on May 6.
