A lot of new footage from Zack Snyder's Justice League has been released piece by piece through marketing . This isn't completely unexpected since Warner Bros. has to convenience mainstream audiences that this edition of Justice League will have plenty of new content to see.
One of the biggest and most likely expensive changes in this version is the inclusion of Steppenwolf's original design . This design was one that Snyder said producers thought was “a little too scary and a little too alien and a little too intense.”
Fans have gotten a chance to see this new design in action in the trailers, but now, a full clip shows it in all of its glory.
WONDER WOMAN VS. STEPPENWOLF
Two new sneak peeks from Zack Snyder's Justice League have been released , including one that shows a fight between Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman and Steppenwolf (plus his Parademons).
The most significant difference from the theatrical cut is a more tense pause before Steppenwolf reaches for his ax and the new score from Junkie XL. Also, instead of Gal Gadot's heroine saying, “You overestimate yourself,” she says “I belong to no one” in response to Darkseid's enforcer claiming Diana as his.
A MARKED IMPROVEMENT
Junkie XL's score was immediately noticeable when coupled with the more deliberate pause before the fight begins, as one can hear the sound of what can only be the Amazons that Steppenwolf slain encouraging Gal Gadot's Diana before the battle begins. Additionally, fans can hear Wonder Woman's now-iconic theme which was absent in this fight.
It really does seem like a big improvement over the theatrical release, with Steppenwolf actually looking significantly more intimidating than his altered counterpart . This makes him feel like a much more deadly foe against the world's most famous heroine.
One missing line from Steppenwolf is his snide comment to Diana, “Child, my ax is still slick with the blood of your sisters.” Many fans believed to be a Snyder line, but it is absent in this clip. Unless it was edited out or moved somewhere else, it'd be disappointing if such a good line didn't end up in this new cut, especially since Steppenwolf's ax will now quite literally be slick in Amazon blood .
Zack Snyder's Justice League will debut on HBO Max on March 18, 2021.
