Marvel Entertainment revealed a brand-new live-action poster for Spider-Noir's version of Black Cat. Amazon Prime Video's Spider-Verse spinoff is set in an alternate, gritty universe full of reimagined Spider-Man characters, including a 1930s-inspired Black Cat. A sneak peek of Spider-Noir provided the first look at the second live-action Black Cat by showing Li Jun Li's version of the character, who works as a nightclub singer in this universe.
Amazon Prime Video and MGM Entertainment (via Omelete) officially unveiled the first poster for Marvel's live-action Black Cat in Spider-Noir, featuring Li Jun Li's Cat Hardy alongside Brendan Gleeson's Silvermane.
This mini poster is part of the Spider-Noir-themed collectible badges for CCXP Mexico, with Silvermane and Black Cat's designs designated for three-day passes to the event.
Li Jun Li's version of Black Cat makes history as the second live-action portrayal of the character, following Felicity Jones' brief stint as Felicia Hardy, Harry Osborn's executive assistant, in 2014's The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
While Felicia Hardy's appearance was short-lived in the Andrew Garfield-led pair of Spider-Man movies, Spider-Noir is positioned to change that by giving the spotlight to Cat Hardy as a key character luring Nicolas Cage's Ben Reilly into the criminal underworld.
Spider-Noir is an eight-episode series that follows Ben Reilly, who grapples with his past life as a superhero. After a new case forces him to confront his history, Reilly must suit up as The Spider once again to protect the city from otherworldly threats.
Spider-Noir will debut on MGM+'s linear broadcast channel on May 25, followed by a confirmed binge release on Prime Video on May 27.
Black Cat's Spider-Noir Poster Has a Twist Hiding In Plain Sight
Cat Hardy in Spider-Noir is portrayed as a nightclub chanteuse with potential ties to the criminal underworld, and the fact that this latest poster shows the character alongside the series' big bad, Silvermane, may have already spoiled a shocking twist: that she is a villain hiding in plain sight.
It's possible that Cat Hardy is a deliberate informant in the world of Spider-Noir, and she could be working with Silvermane to draw Ben Reilly and possibly lure him into the dangers of the mob of Depression-era New York.
While it is unknown if Hardy will suit up as a reimagined Black Cat in the series, the fact that she is already positioned as an enigmatic figure complicating things for the titular hero makes her a compelling addition to Ben Reilly's story.
Given the duality of Black Cat in the stories from Marvel Comics, there is also a chance that Cat Hardy is playing two sides of the coin in the series, meaning that she could flip alliances and side with Ben Reilly when the situation presents itself. Another twist could be the idea that she could be working with Reilly from the start as a way to get close to Silvermane and discover his sinister plans for New York.
