Currently filming in Syndey, Australia , Thor: Love and Thunder will see the return of many fan favorites, including Jaimie Alexander’s Sif . Leaked set photos have shown the absolutely stacked cast including Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Chris Pratt, Matt Damon, and even Melissa McCarthy .
One star from Thor: Ragnarok put doubt in her returning , in no small part to her character likely being dead. That doesn’t mean fans won’t see other returning stars from Odinson’s revitalizing film.
New photos at a rugby match in Syndey show a familiar face alongside other cast and crew for Love and Thunder , pointing to one particular Elder of the Universe returning in the Taika Waititi-directed sequel.
GRANDMASTER SPOTTED IN AUSTRALIA
The Wide World of Sports account on Twitter posted a photo of actor Chris Hemsworth and director Taika Waititi accompanied by Jeff Goldblum attending a rugby match in Australia on Friday. This was first pointed out by Murphy's Multiverse .

This does not definitively mean that Goldblum has joined the cast of Thor: Love and Thunder as the Grandmaster as there are currently a number of big movies filming in Australia, but the actor doesn't seem to have any other projects lined up to warrant him being there.
GRANDMASTER IN PLAY FOR LOVE AND THUNDER
The last time fans saw Goldblum's Grandmaster was in the post-credit scene for Thor: Ragnarok as he attempted to talk down an angry mob and declared their revolution a “tie.” More dedicated fans will know that Goldblum also starred in a short titled Team Darryl , which was included on the Blu-ray for Thor: Ragnarok .
In that comedic short, the Grandmaster claimed that he was exiled from Sakaar after they overthrew him, so that might just be the same in Thor: Love and Thunder . Of course, minus having been a roommate with a human named Darryl on Earth. Although considering Waititi's brand of humor, it wouldn't be a surprise if that actually happened, too.
Thor: Love and Thunder is currently set to release in theaters on May 6, 2022 .
