There was certainly plenty for fans to chew on in the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer, such as Doctor Strange helping Spider-Man by casting a spell to make everyone forget his secret identity. One other exciting aspect of the trailer is when the two heroes look to be fighting each other in the mirror dimension as well as in front of the Sanctum Sanctorum.

These two may have only interacted briefly during Avengers: Infinity War, but in the multiverse, their connection looks to have deepened. In the What If...? zombies episode, when Peter is about to be bitten, the late Doctor Strange's Cloak of Levitation attaches itself to him and saves Parker in the nick of time.

Now, if a new rumor is true, it seems like the Cloak won't be nearly as helpful to Spider-Man in No Way Home.

According to The Cosmic Circus, as many assumed from the trailer, the fight between Strange and Parker is over the cube artifact, which can briefly be seen when Doctor Strange pushes Spider-Man out of his body. However, this artifact is supposedly original to the film, having no links to the comics.

During the fight, Spider-Man will evade everything the Master of the Mystic Arts can throw at Parker until he uses his Cloak of Levitation against the teenage hero in an attempt to trap him. It seems that there will be a visual reference, however brief, of Spider-Man donning the mystical apparel as his What If...? Variant counterpart did against a horde of zombies.

Only an assumption, but it seems like the end of this fight between Spidey and Strange will be outside the Sanctum Sanctorum when Doc pushes Peter's astral form out of his body. The sorcerer still has the Cloak of Levitation in this scene, so it appears that Spider-Man won't end up damaging the magical clothing too severely in his tussle with it.

There is still a question of what they're fighting over and why Peter wants it so badly that he'd fight Doctor Strange over it. Cosmic Circus affirms that it is the reason for their fight, but even they don't know for sure the purpose of the ancient cubed trinket.

Fans will find out precisely what it is when they see Spider-Man: No Way Home in theaters on December 17, 2021.
