Filming for Shazam! Fury of the Gods officially began last month, with the cast from the original film reuniting before they grow up too much. Unfortunately, not much is currently known about this sequel, aside from the villains being three sisters.
Two of the sisters have been officially cast, with Hespera being played by Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu taking the role of Kalypso. The third sister has yet to be confirmed, but it's likely that relative newcomer, Rachel Zegler, will be playing the youngest of the three sisters.
New set footage was recently captured by a fan who noticed production filming on top of a parking lot.
FAMILY VAN VANTAGE POINT
Reddit user u/Cellowned posted footage from the production of Shazam! Fury of the Gods, which showed what appears to be the entire original cast exiting the mustard-colored van seen in the original film driving to the top of a parking lot, accompanied by a flying Shazam.
Not only are the children seen exiting the van, but Rosa and Victor Vasquez too, presumably with Marta Milans and Cooper Andrews returning to the roles. So, it seems like both foster parents drove the young heroes to the parking lot roof for whatever reason.
Additionally, Zachary Levi's new costume as Shazam was captured too, giving a very detailed look at the golden-age superhero. The cape will, of course, be added in post-production, but it shouldn't be too different from the one he adorned in the original Shazam.
PARENTAL SUPERVISION FOR SHAZAM'S HEROICS
Looking at this video, it's easy to miss that the foster parents are present, which has a lot of potential implications for their role in the film, especially since Shazam is freely standing right next to both of them and potentially having a conversation with them on the parking lot rooftop.
It could be that this is the moment Billy Batson and the rest of the kids tell them the truth since they're on a rooftop now where they can all freely transform without causing any damage. Another possibility is that this is a bit of hijinks with Shazam helping Rosa and Victor look for Billy with the rest of the kids "helping."
Shazam! Fury of the Gods is currently scheduled to release in theaters on June 2, 2023.
