Official Avengers: Doomsday promotional art revealed the best look yet at Tenoch Huerta's Namor redesign ahead of the 2026 MCU crossover event. 2022's Black Panther: Wakanda Forever introduced Namor (aka K'uk'ulkan) as the mutant king of the underwater nation of Talokan. Following his conflict with Shuri and the Wakandans, the two nations' truce at the end of the sequel will play a significant role in the incursions-heavy conflict in Avengers: Doomsday, as marketing showed that Shuri, Sue Storm, Ben Grimm, and some Avengers are in Talokan to recruit Namor in the fight against Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom. Marketing for Doomsday made it clear that Namor is mad about their arrival, leading to some tense encounters. Still, later trailers showed Namor standing alongside other heroes like Shang-Chi and M'Baku, suggesting that the conflict is over and he will eventually help them in the Multiversal clash.

Official Avengers: Doomsday promotional standees (via HEXFacility) revealed the major redesign for Tenoch Huerta's Namor in the upcoming movie, showcasing the character's more armored, regal design. Namor's new look marks a clear departure from the minimalist design he debuted in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Namor's new costume features a high-collared, scale-textured tunic in blue-green tones, and black shoulder sections infused with green scales on the sleeves. Gold accents also emanate throughout Namor's redesigned suit.

Namor's Doomsday costume blends classic comic Namor scale armor with Talokan influences, signaling a more elaborate look for the MCU anti-hero (who is now part of the Avengers, albeit temporarily, in Avengers: Doomsday).

His costume in Wakanda Forever relies more on jewelry as its main aesthetic, prioritizing Talokan identity over classic comic superhero armor. However, in Avengers: Doomsday, Namor's aesthetic upgrade is that he is significantly more covered and armored, which actually fits the larger ensemble action and reflects his newfound alliance with Shuri and the Wakandans.

It is also worth noting the redesign of Namor's spear in Avengers: Doomsday. Namor's spear looks more technologically advanced and integrated than the version he carried in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

The new spear featured a glowing blue tip, a change that aligns with the teal and blue accents appearing across the updated Wakanda-Talokan alliance costumes. This glow suggested that Letitia Wright's Shuri may have personally upgraded Namor's spear as part of the newfound partnership between the two vibranium-heavy nations.

Namor's spear is the most deliberate visual nod to the shared resources and closer ties between Wakanda and Talokan. This updated weapon also reinforces Namor's evolution from an isolated cultural figure into a more battle-ready (reluctant) ally prepared for the Multiversal scale of the conflict. Avengers: Doomsday is set to premiere in theaters on Friday, December 18.

What Namor's Major Redesign In Avengers: Doomsday Truly Means

In Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Namor's strength was conveyed largely through his physique and the sheer presence of his bare form, signaling superiority over his enemies without the need for added protection.

Namor's Avengers: Doomsday effectively flips that language by giving him more armor, characterizing him as a living weapon whose power is built into the materials themselves. Greater coverage in Doomsday can be read as a deliberate closing off, presenting himself as someone who has chosen to engage and create external relationships (with Wakanda and the Avengers) while still keeping distance.

The mutual technological and cultural borrowing between Wakanda and Talokan also carries a deeper meaning in Avengers: Doomsday, mainly because Earth's defense forces against Doctor Doom's potential invasion are mightier with the two nations working together with the rest of the world, rather than Wakanda alone, in Thanos' arrival in Avengers: Infinity War. Namor's armored look also restores his visual consistency with the rest of the Avengers, Fantastic Four, and the X-Men (who all have costume redesigns in the movie).

All in all, the redesign marks Namor's transition from a hidden, defensive king to a more integrated player in the wider Multiversal conflict.
