Don Cheadle Earns Emmy Nod For Marvel Return In Falcon and the Winter Soldier

Disney is no stranger to the Emmy Awards.

The studio's The Mandalorian walked away with five awards at last year's ceremony, so it's only natural that the studio wants to repeat this feat with its new Marvel Studios shows. Campaigns for WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier began in May, which were relentless, as all awards campaigns tend to be.

WandaVision was reportedly the front-runner for Marvel Studios, which did manage to nab a nomination for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series. This left The Falcon and the Winter Soldier to pick up its own nominations, including one for Outstanding Guest Actor.

DON CHEADLE NOMINATED FOR GUEST ACTOR

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier's Don Cheadle has officially been nominated for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for the 2021 Emmy Awards.

Additionally, the series was nominated for several other awards:

  • Outstanding Guest Actor In A Drama Series – Don Cheadle as Colonel James Rhodes/War Machine
  • Outstanding Sound Editing For A Comedy Or Drama Series (One Hour) – “One World, One People”
  • Outstanding Special Visual Effects In A Season Or A Movie
  • Outstanding Stunt Coordination
  • Outstanding Stunt Performance – “Truth”

The 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards will air on Sunday, September 19, 2021.

WILL MARVEL STUDIOS' SECOND SERIES WALK AWAY EMPTY?

As much as fans love Don Cheadle, he only appeared in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier for less than three minutes in the star-spangled series' premiere episode. Timothy Olyphant's Cobb Vanth in "Chapter 9" of The Mandalorian has more of a chance to nab this award than Cheadle does, considering he was the focal point of an entire episode and not just a brief cameo.

The award for Outstanding Special Visual Effects is also filled to the brim with contenders like The Boys, The Mandalorian, and even WandaVision. This series will have to fight for that award, but it's more than likely going to lose it to The Mandalorian, which is looking to repeat after winning it last year.

Regardless, just getting nominated for these awards is great for everyone who worked on this show, but hopefully, Marvel Studios will walk away with at least one award under their belt.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier's complete first season is available to stream now on Disney+.
