Fans have been left guessing when some movies from Marvel Studios will be released, with the two most conflicting being the release dates for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Blade. It's honestly been a tug of war of information when it comes to when these two movies will open in theaters.
Michelle Pfeiffer had initially commented on social media that it would be coming in 2022, but that was quickly edited out of her comment. In contrast, Michael Douglas also said the same thing, but with his statement remaining untouched. As a result, many have assumed that this means the Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly-led Quantumania will be released on October 7, 2022.
However, according to the official programming sheet from Disney Investor Day 2020, it indicates that Blade will be released between Black Panther II and Captain Marvel 2, but before the Ant-Man threequel, which would also be consistent with the October 7, 2022 release date listed in Disney's latest release calendar.
ANT-MAN 3 (SUPPOSEDLY) RELEASING IN 2023
Murphy's Multiverse has found on the website for Cines Argentinos, a theater chain in Argentina, that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is listed to be released on February 16, 2023.
No official release date has been confirmed by Disney at this time.
BLADE PRIMED FOR OCTOBER RELEASE
If this release date for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is accurate, that means Blade is very likely to take the vacant October 7, 2022 spot between Black Panther II and Captain Marvel 2. Yes, the Ant-Man threequel already has a director and most of its primary cast, along with already beginning filming, but the latter isn't with any actors.
It was likely only filming plates for effects and coverage for landscape. Production with the main cast of Quantumania, which Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, and MCU newcomer Jonathan Majors, is said to begin in the spring, so it likely won't begin in earnest for several more months.
There's also plenty of evidence pointing to Blade releasing in October. The biggest was that programming sheet from Disney itself listing Blade right between the sequels for Black Panther and Captain Marvel. Not to mention that in that time, the movie has found a writer with Stacy Osei-Kuffour with filming reportedly beginning in late 2021.
It'll be exciting to see Marvel Studios release Blade, a movie primarily about vampires, during the month of Halloween, which couldn't be more appropriate.
