Florence Pugh Gets Blocked by Instagram for Sharing Hawkeye Spoilers

Florence Pugh, Hawkeye, Disney+

Marvel Studios is on a roll with releasing content in 2021, which marches on toward the end of the year with the Disney+ series Hawkeye. Giving Jeremy Renner his first MCU solo project after a decade of supporting roles, his Clint Barton now has a golden opportunity to take on his own challenges, all while trying to get home to his family for the holiday season.

Although Barton is obviously the focus of the series, Hawkeye is also showcasing important new players like Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop and Alaqua Cox’s Echo. The best part? Even with all of this action, and even with a tease of Vincent D’Onofrio's Kingpin, there’s still more confirmed material on the way that has fans on edge, such as Florence Pugh's Disney+ debut as Yelena Belova from Black Widow.

In exciting fashion, one of those long-awaited plot points officially kicked off in Episode 4 during the epic battle in the entry’s final moments. However, it’s now causing an unexpected bout of controversy for one of the key players involved.

Pugh Fires Back after Blocked Hawkeye Posts

WARNING: This article contains spoilers for Episode 4 of Hawkeye.

On the premiere day of Hawkeye Episode 4, Florence Pugh took to Instagram to celebrate Yelena Belova's MCU return at the end of the episode, sharing an Instagram post of Yelena-focused screenshots along with multiple Instagram Stories of her action-packed rooftop fight scene.

According to Pugh, "someone" (likely many Instagram users) "complained" to Instagram about the spoiler-y posts, resulting in the social media platform blocking Pugh from further posts, although she was still able to share the following message in her stories:

"I never though me posting love about a show in which I appear on would get taken down...but here we are. Someone on here complained so I’ve been blocked from posting my own appearance on a show that I’m very much in.

Beyond ridiculous.

Being in Hawkeye is a privilege and thank you to all who welcomed me on set and off and all who are watching."

Pugh Wants to Share Her Hawkeye Excitement

Florence Pugh's inclusion in Hawkeye has had fans excited for the better part of a year. Following The Direct's exclusive report that she would play some kind of role in the Disney+ series, the post-credits scene from Black Widow sent the anticipation to new highs with the reveal that she was on the hunt for Clint Barton.

Episode 4 of Hawkeye finally delivered on that promise as Yelena held her own against Hawkeye, Kate Bishop, and Echo before escaping the scene and not uttering a single word in the process. This quick scene quickly sent the hype train speeding down the tracks with Pugh leading the way in sharing how fun it was to be a part of this series.

Unfortunately, less than 24 hours after the episode's debut, Instagram came down hard on Pugh with the previously mentioned temporary ban from posting to her page.

How exactly this ban came to be is a mystery, especially considering how often spoilers from projects like those from the MCU are quickly posted on Instagram shortly after release. Taking into account that the actress who brought these spoilers to life is the one posting them to Instagram, it's certainly a strange scenario unlike anything seen before.

No matter when Pugh can post on her social media page again, it's abundantly clear that she's thrilled about the chance to bring Yelena Belova from the MCU's movies into its expanding narrative on Disney+.

Episode 4 of Hawkeye is now available to stream on Disney+.
