At this point in the history of the MCU, there are certain trademarks that fans have come to expect, such as post-credits scenes, interconnected storytelling, genre experimentation, and, of course, cameos. Of all the projects on Marvel's 2022 slate, Disney+'s She-Hulk is shaping up to be "the show" where Marvel could lean into the hallmarks of its brand, particularly when it comes to those fan-favorite cameos.
Starring Tatiana Maslany as Bruce Banner's cousin, Jennifer Walters, She-Hulk is expected to be a half-hour legal comedy where Walters balances her career as a lawyer with her Hulk-like qualities.
Not only is a legal comedy new ground for Marvel Studios, but Maslany is also expected to break the fourth wall and, again, feature a few familiar faces. In addition to Tim Roth as Abomination and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner or Professor Hulk, new evidence supports another character from the MCU - and an upcoming film - is set to appear as well.
Wong to Cameo in Marvel's She-Hulk on Disney+
According to scooper @MsLizzieHill, Benedict Wong from Doctor Strange and Spider-Man: No Way Home is expected to appear in Marvel's She-Hulk on Disney+.
Her tweet reads as follows:
"I'll just throw in that I had heard quite a while ago from a dependable source that Wong is in #SheHulk too."
This post was in response to a tweet from @shehulkdaily implying that the sorcerer could appear in the upcoming series, given She-Hulk's own Tatiana Maslany and Benedict Wong had started following one another on Instagram, as well as the fact that Benedict Wong followed She-Hulk writer and producer Jessica Gao, director Kat Coiro, and actress Jameela Jamil who's playing Titania in the series.
It's worth noting that this wouldn't be the first MCU cameo from Benedict Wong, nor will it be the first time he appeared in a project featuring Tim Roth's Abomination. Both characters made a brief appearance in 2021's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
Why Wong Needs to Appear in She-Hulk
Even though audiences have seen Wong in the time following his role in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and discovered he's now the new Sorcerer Supreme thanks to Spider-Man: No Way Home, just how he knows Abomination and why the two were seemingly staging a fight in Xialing's Golden Dagger Club is still a mystery.
Since Abomination is confirmed for the series, it now makes sense for Wong to appear and let audiences in on what the odd couple has been up to and why.
Still, given the courtroom premise of She-Hulk, Wong is potentially one of many cameos fans will see in this upcoming series. In fact, many fans are expecting Charlie Cox's Daredevil will have a role, given the fact that No Way Home confirmed he's a "very good lawyer."
Also, since the Spider-Man threequel failed to resolve Happy Hogan's newfound legal woes, it's possible that he too could appear.
Now that Moon Knight has officially debuted on Disney+ with Ms. Marvel to follow, fans are likely to hear more about She-Hulk's ever-growing cast in the coming months.
She-Hulk is set to premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2022.
