The Marvel Cinematic Universe is in an age of transformation due to the addition of several live-action TV shows under the Disney+ umbrella. These shows will help fill in the gaps of the expanding narrative of the MCU while also fleshing out several characters in the process.

One of the intriguing additions to the MCU Disney+ lineup is She-Hulk. Not much is known about the overall outlook of the series, but several rumors suggest that the show will remain faithful to the source material. She-Hulk is currently eyeing a 2022 release date, but the ongoing health crisis may derail those plans. Still, The Direct exclusively reported earlier that production for the series will start early next year.

And now, it seems that an important tidbit about She-Hulk has emerged, and it entails an interesting addition to the growing production crew.

REPORT

Deadline shared in an exclusive report that It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia director Kat Coiro is in negotiations to direct the pilot and several episodes of the She-Hulk Disney+ show. The outlet also shared that Coiro will serve "as an Executive Producer on the show."

Coiro joins Rick and Morty scribe Jessica Gao who has already been tapped to write the script for She-Hulk last year.

WHAT THIS MEANS

The inclusion of Kat Coiro as both director and executive producer for She-Hulk could potentially mean that the Disney+ series is gearing up for production soon. However, She-Hulk still doesn't have a lead actress for the Jennifer Walters character, but Coiro's addition could also mean that she will be the one spearheading the search for the part.

Coiro's experience in directing comedic sitcoms like It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Brooklyn Nine Nine could hint at the tone of She-Hulk when it finally drops on Disney+. It's a safe bet that humor will be adapted within the Disney+ realm of MCU shows just like in the movies. It also comes to no surprise that the MCU is leaning towards a more comedic vibe for their Disney+ shows, since the tone is already a staple in their movies.

It will be interesting to see She-Hulk's place in the narrative landscape of the MCU. It was previously rumored that Mark Ruffalo's Hulk will join the Disney+ show to give way to the comic-accurate origin story of the character. Given Ruffalo's rumored involvement and Coiro's comedic expertise, She-Hulk is shaping up to be an amusing addition to the growing library of the MCU in the near future.
