It has been a while, but the MCU is about to make a big splash as Marvel Studios releases its first theatrical venture of 2022. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has been a long time coming, with fan expectations through the roof for this Multiversal sequel. The film will center around Benedict Cumberbatch's Stephen Strange as he traverses different realities alongside Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff and Xochitl Gomez's America Chavez.

And while that trio of heroes is exciting for fans, it's the rumored cameos that have occupied many a conversation regarding the project. Audiences have already been teased with Professor X (played by Patrick Stewart), but there seem to be many more packed into MoM's two-hour and six-minute runtime.

One of the names confirmed to be in the film, but yet to be seen, has been Hayley Atwell's Captain Carter. This alternate take on Atwell's Captain America character was showcased in last Fall's Disney+ series What If...?In the animated Marvel anthology, Carter got the Super Soldier Serum instead of Steve Rogers making her the wartime hero this time around.

Now, with less than a week until Multiverse of Madness releases worldwide, the filmmakers have seemingly let Carter come out to play in the film's marketing material.

After being confirmed to appear in the film, fans have their first glimpse of Hayley Atwell's Captain Carter in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as a part of a new teaser.

Carter's alternate universe Avenger is seen jumping away from Wanda Maximoff, and even though her face isn't shown, she wields the same shield she did in her animated debut.

Peggy also notably wears a jetpack in this new footage, which vaguely resembles the equipment seen on the back of Steve Rogers' Hydra Stomper

Another shot also revealed a clearer look at the Captain Marvel Variant in the film, who seems to be Lashana Lynch’s Maria Rambeau.

Oh Captain, My Captain

This is so incredibly exciting to finally get a glimpse at Captain Carter in live-action for the first time. And yes, some will look at this and think "oh man, why spoil the surprise?," but it had been confirmed the character would be in the film long ago. This is how the studio shows something without revealing the true secrets that remain within this Multiversal epic

Director Sam Raimi, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, and the Marvel Studios brass know what they are doing. This is exactly enough for the MCU faithful to get excited without giving up too much of the goods.

Now it is hard to glean anything from just a split-second of footage, but there are some takeaways that can be had here. First, from what is shown Atwell's hero looks glorious. The shield and part of the costume shown look like they were pulled straight from What If..?

What is also interesting to note is the locale where this scene seems to be taking place. It seems that Captain Carter here is going head-to-head with the Scarlet Witch, a battle that will surely put her to the brink. And as for the location, it seems to be the Illuminati headquarters that has been shown off in trailers.

There has been mention of various Scarlet Witch attacks in the film, and she does look like the aggressor here. So, this could mean that Carter is a part of the Illuminati or a protector of the mysterious interdimensional group.

Hopefully, this is not the only moment Atwell's Avenger gets in the film, but for now, all fans can do is wait.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hits theater screens worldwide on May 6.
