The MCU fandom is still coming down from the high of a new Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer. Fans worldwide will surely spend the next couple of weeks combing through the new tease of Marvel Studios' 2022 theatrical debut, as the new footage offered glimpses at Professor X, Ultron Bots, and a new Captain Marvel.
But those are not the only things that have people buzzing over the upcoming MCU epic. The Sam Raimi-directed adventure has been teased as one of the biggest in Marvel's history, as whispers various of cameos continue to appear online, including Tom Cruise as Tony Stark and Hayley Atwell's Captain Carter.
Atwell's wartime hero made her debut in last fall's What If...?, and since her appearance taking up the shield there has been much talk as to when fans will see the character make the jump from the animated realm into live-action. Well, it seems as though audiences will not have to wait all that long.
Captain Carter's Return In Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness
After the release of the new poster for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, eagle-eyed fans noticed that the new piece of promotional art features Captain Carter's shield.
The reflection of Carter's Union Jack shield can be seen in the bottom-right corner of the poster, confirming that Hailey Atwell's animated hero will be making the jump into live-action in the upcoming film.
The Captain Reports for Duty
In what was a lackluster series in Marvel Studio's What If...?, Captain Carter served as one aspect of the show fans really latched on to. As soon as Hayley Atwell's Agent Carter got the Super Soldier Serum in place of Steve Rodgers, fans started clamoring for more of the character. It appears as though the Captain Carter faithful have gotten their wish.
Multiverse of Madness has been teased to feature a myriad of cameos, but that is really hard to grasp without any evidence of what that exactly means. But if Spider-Man: No Way Home was the Multiversal appetizer, then Doctor Strange 2 is seemingly going to be the main course.
And yes, while some of these cameos will be a blink-and-you'll-miss-it appearance, it feels like Captain Carter might be a little more than that. Audiences have loved Atwell since her MCU debut in The First Avenger, and now would be the perfect time to usher her into a new role for her character in the franchise.
Just because Steve Rodgers may be done in the MCU, does not mean that Agent/Captain Carter has to be. Multiverse of Madness could serve as a jumping-off point, bringing her into the MCU-proper, and then allowing her to play about with Marvel's biggest and brightest.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness debuts in theaters on May 6, 2022.
