New Doctor Strange 2 Trailer Reveals More Captain Carter Action

Captain Carter, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is expected to feature many cameos as it highlights the concept of alternate realities. The upcoming MCU sequel is already confirmed to showcase the return of Patrick Stewart's Charles Xavier and a Captain Marvel Variant who clearly resembles Maria Rambeau. Another notable Illuminati member who has been teased is Hayley Atwell's Captain Carter.

Captain Carter was first introduced in the debut episode of the What If...? animated series, a storyline where Peggy received the Super Soldier Serum instead of Steve Rogers. The character returned during the finale after The Watcher recruits her to save the Multiverse. Now, Captain Carter will make her big-screen debut in Multiverse of Madness, but it is unknown if it will be the same Variant as the one from the animated Disney+ show.

Ahead of the sequel's highly-anticipated release, new footage of Captain Carter has emerged.

Doctor Strange 2's Marketing Hypes Up Captain Carter

Marvel Studios officially released a brand-new promo for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, showcasing fresh footage of the core characters and Hayley Atwell's Captain Carter.

The 30-second trailer includes a new shot of Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch alongside Benedict Wong's Wong, with the pair seemingly teaming up.

How Captain Carter Fits in Doctor Strange 2

Even though Multiverse of Madness’ promotional push hasn't fully shown Captain Carter, the character's shield and jetpack are more than enough to build up anticipation for her live-action debut.

Captain Carter had an impressive debut in What If...?, and it seems that momentum is expected to carry over on the big screen. While it is unknown if this iteration of the character is the same one from the animated series, it's safe to assume that this Captain Carter will have the same tenacity and grit, as evidenced by the footage shown in the new promo.

It remains to be seen if Strange knows the MCU's Peggy Carter, but his surprised reaction could hint that he has an idea. Previous footage also confirms that Captain Carter will come face to face with Wanda Maximoff, indicating that an intense showdown is in the cards.

Meanwhile, intriguing shots of Wong and Scarlet Witch talking to each other appear to tease either a team-up or a battle. However, given that the opening sequence shows them walking from the portal together, it looks like a truce has been made.

Wanda's attack on the Illuminati compound is highlighted, showing the Scarlet Witch's wrath once again. Doctor Strange's fight against Sinister Strange seems to tease that the future Sorcerer Supreme will do whatever it takes to win by using every magic trick in his arsenal.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to premiere in theaters on May 6.
