With San Diego Comic-Con moving to the online space this year, studios are taking announcements into their own hands. Marvel and Lucasfilm have chosen to skip Comic Con at Home, but DC has gone even further and created an online convention of its own.

DC FanDome is a free online event being held on Saturday, August 22nd. Over 20 of DC’s major movie and television titles are set to be present and there’s said to be a few surprise announcements in store. With the release of the official schedule and guest list, The Direct has compiled predictions for what could be revealed at all the big panels at the upcoming convention.

Jason Momoa as Aquaman

(10 mins)

Confirmed: Aquaman director James Wan and King Orm himself, Patrick Wilson, take a deep dive into the world of Atlantis that Wan created, revealing their favorite behind-the-scenes moments from the largest DC movie ever!
Predictions: With the Aquaman sequel still at script stage, there won’t be any new footage to show at DC FanDome for Aquaman 2. However, with director James Wan and star Patrick Wilson on a panel, it’s likely some potential teases for what will happen in the new movie could be revealed in conversation. Wan has already teased in a fan Q&A for DC FanDome that the sequel will feature Trench-like horror, and more responses like this can be expected during the panel.

8:30pm ET, Hall of Heroes (30 mins)

Confirmed: The Batman filmmaker Matt Reeves joins host Aisha Tyler for a discussion of the upcoming film...with a surprise (or two) for the fans!

Predictions: Considering the panel description promises a few surprises, it’s very likely that the first footage from The Batman could be released during the panel. Now that production is starting to resume, it also seems feasible to get all the stars together for a pre-recorded appearance, which might end up being one of the promised surprises.

A better look at Robert Pattinson as Batman is something many fans are keen on, so any news from the new movie is likely to make waves. Some details around Matt Reeves’ planned sequels to The Batman or the Gotham City TV series might also be teased.

(40 mins)

Confirmed: Join executive producers Caroline Dries and Sarah Schechter plus cast members Rachel Skarsten, Meagan Tandy, Camrus Johnson and Nicole Kang for the exclusive first discussion with the highly anticipated new Batwoman Javicia Leslie as she prepares to step into the iconic role. The cast will break down season one and give a sneak peek at season two, featuring new arrival Ryan Wilder, aka Batwoman.

Predictions: Batwoman is easily the biggest TV show in the Arrowverse that fans have questions about. With the recent casting of Javicia Leslie in the lead role, DC FanDome is the prime opportunity to introduce the new star and to address fans’ questions about the upcoming season. The CW has pushed the schedule for Batwoman to January 2021 to allow more time for filming, but it’s still likely that the cast and creatives can answer some burning questions around the show’s new direction, particularly how Ryan Wilder will replace Kate Kane.

Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam
Image via Warner Bros.

(15 mins)

Confirmed: Star of the first-ever Black Adam feature film Dwayne Johnson sets the stage for the story and tone of the new movie with a fans-first Q&A...and a few surprises.

Predictions: After being in development for what seems like forever, Black Adam is finally picking up steam once again. Dwayne Johnson is appearing and will hopefully bring some much needed updates on the spin-off movie.

Following the recent casting of Noah Centineo, DC FanDome could be the perfect opportunity to reveal the rest of the cast of Black Adam, or at least tease some other characters who will be appearing. At previous conventions, it would be common to sneak celebrities backstage before revealing them on the panel, but for the virtual world it would be just as effective to introduce the cast via video.

(35 mins)

Confirmed: Join Black Lightning stars Cress Williams, China Anne McClain, Nafessa Williams, Christine Adams, Marvin “Krondon” Jones III, Jordan Calloway and James Remar with actor/filmmaker Robert Townsend moderating as they pay homage to the ’90s.

Predictions: Black Lightning will be returning for its fourth season in 2021, but with no new footage to show it looks like the Black Lightning panel will be a fun discussion with the cast. Some teases for the upcoming season could be revealed, but it’s more likely the cast will discuss moments from previous seasons and the show’s influences.

(35 mins)

Confirmed: Join the cast and producers of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow for a Q&A and, of course, lots of laughs! Be sure to tune in to get the inside scoop on favorite moments from past seasons and what they have in store for season six. Series stars Caity Lotz, Nick Zano, Matt Ryan, Tala Ashe, Jes Macallan, Olivia Swann, Amy Louise Pemberton and Shayan Sobhian join executive producers Phil Klemmer, Keto Shimizu and Grainne Godfree.

Predictions: DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is heading into season six come 2021, and is so far said to be taking the team to face aliens in space. No doubt fans will have questions about where the crazy series will be going next. Following a number of cast exits in season 5, Legends is said to be bringing in a new character for season 6. Who this character is and what their role will be is might be answered during the panel.

(35 mins)

Confirmed: DC’s Stargirl creator/executive producer Geoff Johns joins cast members Brec Bassinger, Amy Smart, Yvette Monreal, Anjelika Washington and Cameron Gellman for a panel full of fun and inside scoop. Join the new Justice Society of America as they dive into that epic showdown and learn a little more about each other through some special lenses.

Predictions:  DC’s newest female fronted TV show, Stargirl, is moving from DC Universe to the CW for season 2. It seems the cast will all be on board to discuss the season one finale and potentially some spoilers for the next season. Now that the show is on the CW, many are also wondering whether Stargirl could feature in the annual Arrowverse crossover, which might be addressed here.

(35 mins)

Confirmed: Join the “world’s strangest heroes” — the Doom Patrol — for a deep-dive discussion into the beloved and bizarre series. Panel will feature executive producers Jeremy Carver and Chris Dingess, co-executive producer Tamara Becher-Wilkinson, and series stars Matt Bomer, Diane Guerrero, April Bowlby, Joivan Wade, Timothy Dalton, Karen Obilom, Abigail Shapiro, Riley Shanahan and Matthew Zuk.

Predictions: Originally developed as a sister-show to Titans, eager fans have been waiting to see if the two shows will crossover or if Doom Patrol will make a larger appearance in the Arrowverse going forward. With production shut down mid-way through season 2 of Doom Patrol, fans are uncertain about what will happen with those remaining un-shot episodes and there will hopefully be some clarity around a potential season 3 renewal on HBO Max.

(40 mins)

Confirmed: Executive producer Eric Wallace joins cast members Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes, Danielle Nicolet, Kayla Compton and Brandon McKnight to discuss all things Flash with Entertainment Weekly’s Chancellor Agard. Team Flash will break down both parts of season six and look ahead at what is to come with an exclusive trailer for season seven.

Predictions: Since the ending of Arrow, The Flash is the longest running CW superhero show still on air. Like most other productions, it had its latest season cut short and is expected to pick back up where things left off for Season 7. Seeing as an exclusive trailer for season 7 is expected, this will likely be made up of footage from the unaired episodes of season 6, but some teases for the longer arc of the season can also be expected.

The Flash in Justice League

(10 mins)

Confirmed: This 101-style conversation with The Flash filmmakers Andy Muschietti and Barbara Muschietti, star Ezra Miller and screenwriter Christina Hodson will give fans a speedy rundown on the first-ever Flash feature film.

Predictions: The Flash feature film has been in development hell for years now. Directors and writers have come and gone, but with Ezra Miller firmly planted as the DCEU’s Flash for now, his shot at a solo feature film may finally be here. It seems like long awaited news about the upcoming feature will finally be revealed at FanDome, and hopefully news about whether the film will be taking the rumored Flashpoint storyline.

There's also the rumors around Michael Keaton as Batman appearing in the new Flash movie. What, how and why that is happening will hopefully get some clarity in the rundown.

(20 mins)

Confirmed: The hilarious voice cast of Kaley Cuoco, Lake Bell, Ron Funches, Matt Oberg and Alan Tudyk will join executive producers Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker, Dean Lorey and supervising producer Jennifer Coyle to break down the most outrageous moments of the show.

Predictions: Harley Quinn’s fate is uncertain at the moment, so DC FanDome is hopefully the place to announce a season three. The show has some pretty insane moments so it’s also possible some outtakes or bloopers could be shown alongside the cast discussion.

(20 mins)

Confirmed: Lucifer is back from Hell, and the series is bringing a never-before-seen blooper reel from season four along with an exclusive clip of “Another One Bites the Dust” from the upcoming musical episode. Director Sherwin Shilati and Lucifer executive producers/showrunners Joe Henderson and Ildy Modrovich discuss what it took to put together such a massive musical episode — and how they have been able to keep it under wraps for so long.

Predictions: Lucifer’s fifth season is set to land the same weekend as DC FanDome, so expect there to be plenty of promotion for the new episodes. It seems the creatives will be discussing some behind the scenes details for season 5, but seeing as the show got a surprise season six renewal from Netflix, there may be some more information revealed about the next season as well.

(20 mins)

Confirmed: Join series stars Jack Bannon, Ben Aldridge, Paloma Faith, Emma Paetz, and executive producers Bruno Heller and Danny Cannon as they talk about this unique origin story of the famed butler behind Batman, Alfred Pennyworth. Join in for a fond look back at the show’s exciting first season and the inspiration behind its stunning and edgy 1960s London setting, plus a few unexpected secrets about the new season ahead.
Predictions: With some ‘unexpected secrets’ set to be revealed about the new season, one of the biggest questions surrounding Pennyworth is will more Batman legacy characters be introduced? Thomas and Martha Wayne are already recurring characters, but whether more famous comic book names could be introduced in the second season might be something to reveal at DC FanDome.

(10 mins)

Confirmed: Sworn to secrecy on the new script for their upcoming movie, Zac Levi and a few of his SHAZAM! castmates talk with the Philippines’ #1 DC fan, Gino Quillamor, about what the next movie might be about, while commenting on everything from panels to the other Zack’s cut — and even have a few surprise guests drop in!

Predictions: Like the description says, little can be revealed about the new Shazam! movie, particularly as it hasn’t even started filming. Following the post-credits tease from the first Shazam, it seems logical that some more information around whether Mister Mind will play a role in the sequel is revealed. The panel also promises some surprise guests and with the Shazam villain Black Adam getting his own movie with Dwayne Johnson, it could be possible that The Rock crashes the panel.

(25 mins)

Confirmed: Zack Snyder fields questions from fans and a few surprise guests as he discusses his eagerly awaited upcoming cut of the 2017 feature film and the movement that made it happen.

Predictions: If there’s one thing that’s certain, it’s that more information about the Zack Snyder’s Justice League will be revealed during DC FanDome. Snyder himself has confirmed that the name, trailer and format will be announced during the event, but it would also be logical to confirm the release date here as well. As for the surprise guests, Ezra Miller and Gal Gadot are already appearing at DC FanDome for their own projects, so it’s possible they could appear as part of the Snyder Cut panel, maybe even with some of the other Justice League members who haven’t been announced.

Captain Boomerang and Harley Quinn

(30 mins)

Confirmed: What else would you expect from The Suicide Squad but the ultimate elimination game? First up, writer/director James Gunn takes on fan questions, then brings out Task Force X for a fast-paced, no-holds-barred Squad Showdown that tests every team member’s Squad knowledge — and survival skills!

Predictions: Aside from cast members returning, very little is known about what the plot or tone of the new The Suicide Squad movie will be, so hopefully some new information will be revealed. James Gunn has already teased what the cast panel will look like at DC FanDome, but seeing as the movie managed to finish production before the lockdown, it’s likely some clips or a first look teaser will be revealed as well.

Confirmed: Supergirl is the one Arrowverse show that doesn’t have its own dedicated panel at DC FanDome. However, the InsiderVerse hub will feature some behind the scenes videos from the hit show and cast members David Heywood and Nicole Maines are confirmed to appear on the ‘Truth, Justice and DC Comics Way’ panel.

(30 mins)

Confirmed: Join DC Chief Creative Officer/Publisher Jim Lee in a conversation with executive producer/showrunner Todd Helbing and series stars Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch as they discuss the history of Superman from the comics to the screen, what fans can expect from the upcoming series, and the significance of the characters in the world of today. Fans will be encouraged to follow along as Jim Lee shows the panelists how to draw the iconic Superman emblem and then share their own versions.

Predictions: Very little is known about the new Superman & Lois series, so any information revealed at DC FanDome will be major news. How another Superman show will fit into the long line of movies and TV shows based on the hero seems to be on the agenda. How much crossover there will be between Superman & Lois and its sister-show Supergirl or the other Arrowverse shows is also a hot topic amongst fans which will hopefully be discussed.

Teen Titans Go!
Image via Warner Bros.

(20 mins)

Confirmed: Don’t miss a special cast table read of some of your favorite moments from the series with executive producer Peter Michail and voice cast members Tara Strong, Khary Payton, Greg Cipes and Scott Menville.

Predictions: This panel seems like it will be a fun time for Teen Titans fans, with a cast table read of the show’s best moments. Other announcements during this panel are unlikely, but don’t rule out new information about future episodes being dropped.

(30 mins)

Confirmed: As a new mysterious threat looms, season three promises to be the biggest yet! Join executive producer Greg Walker and series stars Brenton Thwaites, Anna Diop, Teagan Croft, Ryan Potter, Conor Leslie, Curran Walters, Joshua Orpin, Damaris Lewis, with Alan Ritchson and Minka Kelly for a preview of the new season as well as a discussion on the “Top Titans Moments” of the first two seasons.

Predictions: What the mysterious threat for season three of Titans could be is anyone’s guess, but following the finale of season two, there are sure to be plenty of questions from fans. There will be no season 3 footage to show, but some plot teases should be expected here. Now that the DC Universe shows are migrating to HBO Max there might also be room for crossover between Titans and Doom Patrol on the horizon as well.

(25 mins)

Confirmed: An in-depth discussion about DC’s upcoming Rorschach comic book with writer Tom King and artist Jorge Fornés, moderated by Watchmen TV series creator Damon Lindelof.

Predictions: Watchmen has been sweeping the awards slate lately, but running as a limited series it’s unknown whether the show will continue. The panel discussion here seems to be more focused on the new Watchmen comic book but Damon Lindelof, showrunner of HBO's Watchmen, is moderating so there could be some insight about the TV show as well.

Gal Gadot in Wonder Woman 1984
Image via Warner Bros.

(25 mins)

Confirmed: Wonder Woman 1984 stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig and Pedro Pascal, and director/co-writer/producer Patty Jenkins join forces with Brazilian hosts Érico Borgo and Aline Diniz to celebrate the fans in a big way. They will answer questions from fans from all over the world, talk fan art and cosplay, and reveal an all-new sneak peek at the upcoming film — plus a few more surprises!

Predictions: There are a number of Wonder Woman related panels happening across DC FanDome, but the big ticket event is the Wonder Woman 1984 panel with the cast. In an alternate reality, Wonder Woman 1984 would already be out in cinemas right now. But seeing as the film is ready to go, there should be plenty of exciting teases and footage to show the fans. A new trailer or scenes from the film look all but confirmed and with all of the main cast in attendance there should be lots of major teases about the sequel to dig into ahead of its October release.

(35 mins)

Confirmed: Join executive producers Greg Weisman and Brandon Vietti plus voice cast members Jason Spisak, Khary Payton, Stephanie Lemelin, Nolan North, Denise Boutte, Danica McKellar and Crispin Freeman for a special audio play performance of a brand-new Young Justice episode. After the table read, stick around for a Q&A session previewing the new season.

Predictions: It looks like there will be plenty to tease for Young Justice season four. The new season has been in development for some time now, so a release date and some plot details could potentially be revealed during the panel.

Earlier in the year, some keen eyed fans discovered two ‘Secret Movie’ topics in the question submission list for DC FanDome. In the official panel schedule there is also a panel taking place in Hall of Heroes titled “To Be announced”, which basically confirms something big is coming. There are lots of projects in development for DC at the moment, any of which could be the secret announcement. Here are some predictions:

Birds of Prey 2

The announcement of a Birds of Prey sequel could go either way at this point. It’s known that lead star Margot Robbie is keen to continue the franchise, but whether Warner Bros. shares her enthusiasm after the movie’s poor box office results could halt sequel plans. Rumors have spread that the movie could take a Gotham City Sirens approach and introduce Harley Quinn’s partner in crime, Poison Ivy, which would make for an interesting sequel.

Justice League Dark / Justice League Rebirth

A movie following the Justice League is reportedly in development with JJ Abrams and his production company Bad Robot and fans were pretty excited when it was announced. The movie is said to follow Rebirth storylines and could be the fresh start the Justice League needs to continue in the DCEU. There is also said to be a Justice League Dark series in development with HBO Max which could get some updates at DC FanDome.

Wonder Woman 3

With all the delays Wonder Woman 1984 has been experiencing, the creatives are no doubt considering how a third movie could go. Director Patty Jenkins has been public with her interest in doing a trilogy and Wonder Woman is one of the most successful films on the DC slate. A sequel is all but waiting to be announced.

Suicide Squad: The Ayer Cut

Just like fans got their wish with the Snyder Cut of Justice League, there has also been a push for David Ayer’s original cut of Suicide Squad. Ayer has been publically behind the movement and judging by the enthusiasm for the Snyder Cut, it could be enough to put an Ayer cut into development as well.

All will be revealed in less than a week when DC FanDome kicks off on August 22. Make sure to check back on The Direct for all the announcements and news from DC FanDome as they happen!
