The thrilling conclusion to The Mandalorian Season 2 has almost arrived, and fans are gearing up for its imminent release on Disney+.

Leaked information from the finale's score revealed a potential spoiler-filled plot point that the episode would delve into. The series will not just end with its Season 2 finale though, as a brand new special of Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian dives deep into all the nooks and crannies of the show's second season production on Christmas Day 2020.

Star Pedro Pascal has spoken about the series whilst promoting Wonder Woman 1984 , including his response to rumors regarding him not wanting to wear the Mandalorian helmet anymore. The Mandalorian actor also discussed the possibility of appearing on other Star Wars shows, including Rosario Dawson's Ahsoka.

Pascal has now talked about the series a bit more, confirming who exactly will be directing the Season 2 finale...

In an interview with extratv , Pedro Pascal confirmed that Ant-Man's Peyton Reed will be directing the final episode, "Chapter 16," of The Mandalorian Season 2. The final episode will still be written by show creator Jon Favreau though.

Pascal had nothing but praise for Reed, in addition to all of the other directors he has managed to work with, saying he has "been around some pretty talented human beings."

WHAT THIS MEANS

Peyton Reed is no stranger to The Mandalorian , being responsible for "Chapter 10 - The Passenger" earlier in the second season. Many fans agreed that "Chapter 10" was light on story content, though the quality of direction matched all the other episodes of the season.

Reed will also be the only person to double dip on directing duties this season, demonstrating that Jon Favreau and his team have a lot of faith in his creative abilities. It will be exciting to see what Peyton Reed does when he has a bit more narrative to play around with.

Having experience directing blockbuster action sequences following his stints with Ant-Man and its sequel, it is clear that Peyton Reed is being trusted to bring his expertise for an explosive season finale. "Chapter 16" is expected to feature a faceoff between Din Djarin and Moff Gideon at the very least, so Reed's action know-how will certainly come in handy.

The Ant-Man director also demonstrated his adeptness when orchestrating spacecraft action sequences, with the chase between the Razor Crest and the New Republic's X-Wings in "Chapter 10" being one of the standout moments of the season as a whole. Perhaps this could be an indication of what's to come, with a larger scale space battle in the Season 2 finale raising the stakes to a monumental level.

The Season 2 finale of The Mandalorian releases on December 18, 2020.
