Marvel Studios may have the world's attention once again with Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but this only comes as an extension of years of work the franchise put into Infinity Saga. With 23 movies from 2008 to 2019 that grossed over $22 billion in box office revenue, Marvel CCO Kevin Feige and his team worked long and hard to set the stage for what would become not only the most successful franchise in movie history.
To build this success, Marvel Studios took their time to meticulously plan out an overarching story, years in advance, pairing the best actors in Hollywood with the ideal Marvel heroes to adapt to the screen. The casting process for the MCU is arduous, and there is an extensive list of Hollywood A-listers that are still looking for the right fit within the MCU.
Due to the Walt Disney Company housing multiple iconic franchises, the search for actors sometimes doesn't have to extend to great lengths, as proven by a recent interview.
BO-KATAN GOES MCU?
In an appearance on The Sith Council Podcast with Kristian Harloff, actress Katee Sackhoff revealed that she at one point auditioned for a role in Marvel Studios' Ant-Man and the Wasp. Discussing her time on Lucasfilm's The Mandalorian, Sackhoff looked back on her experience working with Ant-Man director Peyton Reed on the Season 2 finale of the hit Star Wars series. The actress stated that she hadn't worked with Reed prior to Mando Season 2, but did mention that she was within reach on his most recent MCU film:
"I do think I auditioned for Ant-Man and the Wasp at some point, one of the characters."

WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN FOR SACKHOFF
Katee Sackhoff became a fan-favorite in the Star Wars fandom thanks to her pair of appearances as Bo-Katan Kryze in Chapter 11 and Chapter 16 of The Mandalorian. She and director Peyton Reed teamed up for Chapter 16, which is where their connection was rekindled after the audition she mentioned for Ant-Man and the Wasp.
It's a mystery what role she auditioned for, although the best guess would be the movie's primary antagonist, Ava, a.k.a. Ghost. That role was eventually taken by Hannah John-Kamen in the 2018 summer comedy; although Katie Sackhoff was fortunate to reconnect with Reed in the Star Wars saga.
With so many projects set for release in Phase 4 of the MCU, there are still plenty of opportunities for Sackhoff to join the world of Marvel in a different role. For now, she is enjoying her continuing experience working on The Mandalorian where she will hopefully return for more adventures as Bo-Katan.
The Mandalorian Season 3 will release on Disney+ sometime in 2022, and Marvel Studios will soon begin production with Peyton Reed on Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which is rumored to release in 2022 as well.
