Spider-Man: No Way Home's promotional campaign is the gift that keeps on giving this holiday season. As the film's release date approaches, fans are constantly discovering new teasers, stills, and interviews from the No Way Home cast which, in addition to Tom Holland's Peter Parker and a slew of former Spidey villains, also includes Jacob Batalon as Ned and Zendaya's MJ.
Since No Way Home picks up where Spider-Man: Far From Home left off, Peter and MJ's new relationship looks to play an integral role in the hero's story. Sony and Marvel have continually highlighted their bond - and MJ's involvement - in several TV spots and through the film's two record-breaking trailers.
Now, just days away from Spider-Man: No Way Home's worldwide release, new images of Zendaya as MJ have been released through the film's app.
New Spider-Man App Reveals New Images of Zendaya's MJ
The new Spider-Man: No Way Home app has revealed exclusive images of Zendaya as MJ from the photo library of "Peter Parker's Phone."
In addition to being one of the multiple pictures of MJ that Peter has in his phone, this new still also happens to be his wallpaper:
Another image shows MJ in the cluttered basement of Strange's Sanctum Santorum that has been shown several times in the film's marketing:
The next still appears to be from that same basement as well and shows MJ looking at a "Goatee Template" box. Note that the goatee of the man on the box bears a resemblance to Doctor Strange's own facial hair:
The final picture features MJ sitting on the ground and looking down at her phone. It looks like it could be from the same scene as the first image but from a different perspective:
No Way Home App Highlights Spider-Man's Muse
With each MCU Spider-Man film, Zendaya's role as MJ has slowly become more important to the trilogy and Peter Parker himself. One of the many problems Peter appears to be facing in No Way Home is how the loss of his secret identity affects those he cares about, including her.
In fact, she appears to be one of his primary motives for requesting help from Doctor Strange that leads to that botched Multiverse-breaking spell.
Even though these new photos don't give much away in terms of the film's plot, they serve to support MJ's importance to the film, and their release via an app is one of the many ways Sony and Marvel are uniquely marketing the movie and highlighting its character's relationships.
In addition to releasing the opening scene of the film, Sony and Marvel have also utilized TikTok for Daily Bugle-related promos, including an in-universe interview between Angourie Rice's Betty Brandt and Jacob Batalon's Ned Leeds about the state of their relationship following their Far From Home breakup.
As both studios prep for their final marketing push ahead of No Way Home's debut, fans should be on the lookout for more character-related promos in the days to come.
