Obi-Wan Kenobi: Disney+ Rumor Reveals Possible Trailer Release Date

Obi-Wan Kenobi is the hot topic amongst Star Wars fans right now, as it's the next live-action project set to release on Disney+ under Lucasfilm. Ewan McGregor's limited solo series has built up substantial hype over the last few months with it set to finally fill in the gap between 2005's Episode III and 1977's Episode IV. Impressively, all this excitement is in place with no trailer or official footage of any kind released to the public.

Over the last few weeks, Obi-Wan Kenobi has ramped up its promotional tour as fans look forward to seeing the first official look at this six-episode epic. This largely came with the show's first official poster, which centered on a beaten and battered Obi-Wan as he wandered in the desert while holding a lightsaber in his hand, one that fans believe is Anakin Skywalker's.

With less than three months until Obi-Wan Kenobi's premiere on May 25, anticipation is building to see what Lucasfilm and Disney have in store. Now, as that date inches closer, reports are teasing when fans should be looking for that long-awaited first trailer.

Obi-Wan's First Look On the Way

The MakingStarWars YouTube channel shared a rumor suggesting that the first trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi will arrive on either Wednesday, March 9 or Thursday, March 10.

According to their sources, the site saw evidence of shots from the trailer that look too good to be fake. The person that showed them the images claimed that the trailer will debut on the 9th, while another rumor indicated that it would come one day later:

“We had a source, a new source, a source I’m not familiar with… that’s why we’re putting this as a rumor and we’re trying to be very clear about this being a rumor, but they showed evidence from a Kenobi trailer. We have seen evidence that these are shots from the Kenobi trailer and, uh, nothing amazing, but the new costume, things you really realistically could not just go out and fake. And this person claims that the trailer will drop on the 9th… That’s one week from today. If we remember we had heard another rumor before that it was coming on the 10th. This other person comes with pictures going ‘It’s on the 9th.’”

Obi-Wan First Look a Few Days Away

If these rumors are to be believed, Obi-Wan Kenobi is getting ready to make a big splash in the foreseeable future.

Should the trailer debut on either March 9 or 10, it would arrive only two and a half months before the series begins streaming on Disney+. For comparison, the first trailer for The Book of Boba Fett arrived less than two months before its first episode while there was a close to two-and-a-half month delay between the first trailer and debut for Season 1 of The Mandalorian.

Now, the big question is how much Lucasfilm will choose to show on-screen when that first trailer arrives.

Rumors are pointing to part of this show focusing on the former Jedi Master's mission to save a young Princess Leia, which seems to be the main plot point in his solo series. Additionally, with high-profile cast members like Kumail Nanjiani and O'Shea Jackson Jr., not including Hayden Christensen's Darth Vader, Obi-Wan is far from the only big name to look out for.

Regardless of how plot-heavy this first trailer is, any look into the next Star Wars project will be thrilling for the fandom. After hearing so much about McGregor's return to the franchise following a 17-year absence, the first footage from Tatooine should be a sight to behold.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is set to debut on Disney+ on May 25.
