Marvel Studios is looking forward to plenty of exciting new material to add to Phase 4 of the MCU, particularly with Episode 2 of What If...? on Disney+ and the debut of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in theaters. That being said, the team won't be completely moving past its Infinity Saga roots anytime soon.
The effects of Phase 3's Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame will be felt for years to come through the MCU's narrative, especially with how big of a role the six Infinity Stones played over the years. The Tesseract has already shown up in What If...? during Phase 4, and it seems likely that there will be some Time Stone shenanigans to be seen in movies like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness next year.
While it's unclear when/if the Stones will make their presence felt in a meaningful way again, the six entities are simply too powerful to leave by the wayside for a long time.
One company that seems to realize this is Funko Pop!, which recently released a new set of Infinity Stone-centric figurines for purchase.
AVENGERS MEETING INFINITY STONES
The @originalfunko Twitter page started pre-orders for an Amazon exclusive six-pack of Funko Pops! centered around the original six MCU Avengers.
Each of the original six team members has their own Pop!, and they are all colored identically to the six Infinity Stones utilized through the first three Phases of MCU movies.
The set of figurines features Thor in purple (Power Stone), Captain America in blue (Space Stone), Black Widow in red (Reality Stone), Hawkeye in orange (Soul Stone), Hulk in green (Time Stone), and Iron Man in yellow (Mind Stone).
The bases for the six characters connect together into one display, and miniature versions of all six Stones lay at the heroes' feet as well.
The set is available for pre-order at $59.99 USD and will be released on October 28, 2021.
A UNIQUE MCU COLLECTIBLE
Funko Pops! and the MCU have become a nearly inseparable duo, especially as the collectible company has used new figurines to help tease the action coming in future MCU projects. Even with this partnership alive and well, this set is certainly an unexpected item for fans to get their hands on as it looks to be its own unique entity.
With the Infinity Stones' status in Phase 4 still a mystery, this is a unique way to pay tribute to not only their presence but also the deeds of the MCU's original team that carried the story for years.
Each stone appears to match up fairly well with its assigned Avenger either based on how they were used in the stories (Iron Man making Vision with the Mind Stone) or simply the colors matching up (green for the Hulk). They also all pay tribute to the versions of the quantum-suit heroes from Avengers: Endgame, one of cinema's most successful movies ever.
Even though this is a set unlike any that has been released before, it comes as a unique way to commemorate the Infinity Saga with its six core heroes and the six most powerful objects in the MCU. It's still unknown whether this will lead into anything for the movies or other merchandise, but for now, this set will be one many collectors clamor to get their hands on.
The Infinity Saga is streaming now on Disney+.
