The Marvel Cinematic Universe is working up to a major comeback after 18 long months out of the spotlight by kicking off Phase 4 this weekend. Marvel Studios is also beginning its new form of storytelling via mini-series on Disney+, starting Phase 4 with two in a row thanks to the premieres of WandaVision this weekend and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier in March.
While WandaVision is very much a trip into the unknown, with the multiverse potentially in play, The Falcon and the Winter Solider comes as basically a straight up sequel following the events of Avengers: Endgame. Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes will team up together on a new adventure, joining forces taking on old enemies like Daniel Brühl's Helmut Zemo and new forces like the mysterious Flag Smashers.
One of the biggest mysteries about this series is Falcon's evolution into Captain America, as he takes over the mantle from Steve Rogers. Thankfully, a new leak may help confirm this transition in a more concrete fashion.
A new leaked image from a Korean toy safety website shows of a seemingly official action figure from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which has Anthony Mackie's Falcon in his new suit from the show.
The box also confirms that Sam Wilson will use the shield that Steve Rogers gave him, and he will also officially adopt the Captain America mantle.
This could be a fan-made mock-up of the suit, but the box design and figure art appear to point to the suit being official.
WHAT THIS MEANS
This is the closest thing to confirmation on Sam Wilson's new suit for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which has been rumored for the last few months. The suit also looks incredibly reminiscent of Falcon's look from the comics when he takes on the Captain America mantle, which, along with the listing on the box, shows that Wilson will take the mantle for good.
It will be interesting to find out how far into the series it is until Falcon gets this upgraded suit, especially since the one he wore in the Disney Investor Day trailer looked closer to the ones he's worn through his past MCU appearances. Falcon's story will also be something to watch out for, as the dialogue from that trailer made him seem somewhat reluctant to continue the legacy of his Avengers colleague and friend.
Of course, there is the possibility that this could be a convincing fan-made custom figure considering that other merchandising images have shown different versions of Falcon's suit. It's entirely possible that Sam Wilson could wear as many as three different suits through the course of the show's six episodes, and it will likely be an important plot point as he takes a more prominent role with the Avengers.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will premiere on Disney+ on March 19.
