The Marvel Cinematic Universe is set to introduce more characters in its ambitious Phase 4 slate, and a good chunk of them will come from Eternals.
Directed by Academy Award-winning director Chloé Zhao, information about the upcoming MCU film remains scarce, but the main point of discussion among fans is its star-studded cast. Eternals will feature the Marvel movie debuts of big-time names like Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Salma Hayek, Kumail Nanjani, and Kit Harington.
Plot details are still being kept under wraps, but it has been confirmed that the group of super-powered immortals already exists within the world of the MCU. This means that the film will likely showcase major events from the Infinity Saga from a different perspective while also expanding historical events in the process.
A glimpse of Eternals was unveiled during Marvel Studios' sizzle reel to embrace the return of movie theaters, but a full-blown look at the film has now emerged.
A FRESH LOOK AT ETERNALS
Marvel Studios officially revealed the first trailer for Eternals, showcasing a stunning look at the Chloé Zhao-directed project headed by Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, and Salma Hayek.
Alongside the reveal, an official poster for the film was released.
THE STUNNING VISUALS OF ETERNALS
The first official trailer for Eternals has Chloe Zhao's name written all over it, and many would agree that this is a welcome sight for fans. The unique look and feel of the upcoming Marvel film really stand out from its predecessors, and the inclusion of its star-studded ensemble should boost more hype.
The footage showed that Eternals will be a decades-spanning movie, featuring the team's cosmic origin, arrival on Earth, and their adventures while protecting humanity in secret.
One of the lingering questions from fans is the reason behind their hiding all these years and why the team didn't surface from the shadows when Thanos snapped half of the universe's lifeforms into dust during Avengers: Infinity War.
For context, in the pages of Marvel Comics, Thanos was born with the Deviant Syndrome, thus giving him heightened abilities. This connection could hint that Eternals will likely explain the villain's origin even more in the film, creating an opportunity for fans to understand the character's backstory.
An interesting shot from the trailer is one where the Eternals communed with each other to form the Uni-Mind. The Uni-Mind is described as the Celestials' gift to the Eternals, and it is created when several members of the group come together and join their wills and intelligence. As a result, a being made of light, mind, and pure energy is formed.
It is not known why the team will congregate to form the Uni-Mind, but it's possible that they will perform this act to stop their mortal enemies, the Deviants.
From the official reveal of the group's costumes to featuring some of their abilities, this trailer proved that this is only the tip of the iceberg, and more will eventually be revealed when Eternals premieres in theaters on November 5, 2021.
