It has been rumored for over a year that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was casting for a teenage Hispanic female who would be a supporting lead in the film. The Direct later corroborated the casting call, specifying a Puerto Rican actress, ages 12-15 years old. Despite the much younger age compared to the comics, this pointed to none other than America Chavez.

Further evidence with the sequel's working title, “Stellar Vortex,” even indicates that America Chavez would have a pivotal role in the film. It was soon revealed that Xochitl Gomez would be joining the cast, albeit with her character still left a mystery. It wasn't until Disney's Investor Day presentation that Kevin Feige finally confirmed to fans that Gomez would be playing America Chavez.

Filming for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness started sometime in November but was halted due to the hospitals in the U.K. being overwhelmed. Elizabeth Olsen was already filming with Benedict Cumberbatch, but word on Gomez filming with them was quiet until the actress revealed on TikTok that she has already been filming with Olsen.

In a TikTok video posted by @numbuh7, which was about “Elizabeth Olsen practicing the finger thing before filming,” someone imitated the finger position and motions that Olsen does in MCU films and WandaVision.

Unexpectedly, Xochitl Gomez commented on the TikTok video saying, “I can confirm, very close.”

MS. AMERICA IS ON THE SCENE

The implication from Gomez's comment is that she has already filmed scenes with Elizabeth Olsen for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Despite filming having been halted weeks ago, it seems like Gomez has acted in scenes alongside Olsen, and likely Benedict Cumberbatch, too.

It will be interesting to know what kind of role Xochitl Gomez's America Chavez will actually have in the Doctor Strange sequel, especially with her being so much younger than in the comics, wherein she's in her 20s. In fact, in the comics, Chavez has rarely, if ever, interacted with either Scarlet Witch or Doctor Strange.

The only real magical beings she's ever had any relationship with are Kid Loki and Wanda's son, Billy, a.k.a. Wiccan. Both could still make an appearance with Kid Loki already rumored for the Disney+ series and Wanda's children appearing in the WandaVision.

It's possible that Multiverse of Madness could be the first true push at the formation of the Young Avengers in the MCU.
