It’s been a long, long time since Marvel Studios released a Phase 4 project; at least, it feels that way considering the project slate was empty for a little over six weeks.
That all changes with the upcoming premiere of Loki on Disney+, which will kickstart a run of eight new entries coming to the MCU before 2021 comes to a close. That also includes four long-awaited theatrical debuts, which is set to start in only a month with Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow.
Now that Marvel finally has its blockbuster movies’ releases set into stone, the studio is sure to be going in hard on promotional material for the foreseeable future. While Black Widow has been doing this for a solid 18 months thanks to numerous delays, the final countdown is just over the horizon before fans see the final product.
That continues today with the latest poster centered around the MCU’s 24th full-length film.
NEW IMAX POSTER FOR BLACK WIDOW
The official IMAX Twitter page unveiled a new poster for Marvel Studios’ next movie Black Widow. The poster features Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff in her White Widow outfit on a bridge with her hair blowing in the wind.
A NEW ICONIC MCU COSTUME
While fans have certainly seen a lot of the White Widow costume since the movie's first trailer dropped in December 2019, this poster puts it on display quite spectacularly.
The movie's leading heroine has quite the concerned look on her face as her batons are drawn and destruction cascades around her on the bridge. Many of the details behind this scene in the movie are still unclear, but it's clear that Natasha has quite the challenge ahead of her in this prequel.
Marvel's posters usually go through quite the evolution during any one film's promotional tour, and this is no different for how Black Widow is being show to the public. This new poster rightly has the focus on the movie's central character, but the bold red surrounding her is a compelling image as Natasha's world potentially falls apart around her.
No matter what the meaning behind this poster is, it surely gets fans hyped for the MCU's next big-screen outing. After two full years with no Marvel movies gracing theater screens, Phase 4 will truly begin with an impactful story about one of the franchise's longest-standing heroes to date.
Black Widow will premiere in theaters and on Disney+ on July 9, 2021.
