Spider-Man: No Way Home and Hawkeye on Disney+ aren't the only Marvel projects offering new suits and new looks for its heroes. In recent months, Marvel's Avengers has been rolling out new looks and expansions on console and PC; and now, it looks like players are set to receive another new skin based on Black Widow from Avengers: Infinity War.
Marvel's Avengers was met with lackluster reviews upon its 2020 debut for various reasons ranging from a stream of bugs to fans' mixed reactions to the design of its characters. In response, Crystal Dynamics has rolled out new skins for Black Panther, multiple suits for Spider-Man, and most recently, a new skin for Thor.
Now, Crystal Dynamics is finally delivering a new look for Black Widow based on her outfit from Infinity War coupled with a special nod to the OG Avenger's 2021 solo film, Black Widow.
A New Black Widow Infinity War Skin Revealed for Marvel's Avengers
Marvel's Avengers has shared the first look at its new MCU-inspired Black Widow skin based on Natasha Romanoff's look from Avengers: Infinity War.
In addition to Natasha's short, blonde hair, this new skin also features the vest gifted to her by her sister Yelena Belova in Black Widow who recently appeared in Hawkeye on Disney+.
However, unlike Scarlett Johansson's hairstyle in Infinity War, in the game, her hair still appears wavy like the game's base model for the character.
Marvel's Avengers states that this Infinity War look for Natasha Romanoff will be available in the marketplace on December 16, 2021.
Black Widow's Continued Role in the MCU & in Marvel's Avengers
Given the poor response to Marvel's Avengers upon its debut, it's great to see that Crystal Dynamics has made an effort to give fans what they want through expanding gameplay and offering more MCU-accurate designs.
Offering Black Widow - particularly in her Infinity War outfit - is a great choice for this particular moment in the MCU. Even though the character sacrificed herself in 2018's Endgame, her legacy has continued to influence Marvel's Phase 4 and its remaining cast of characters.
In addition to just receiving her own solo film in July of 2021, Natasha Romanoff has been key in influencing Clint Barton's journey in Hawkeye, as well as that of her sister, Yelena Belova, whose own MCU story has only just begun.
With a roadmap going well into 2022, Avengers is still fighting the good fight, but will incremental updates such as this be enough to keep its dwindling player base around?
